and after reading adams' reasons for leaving, guess i cant say im surprised. pretty much everyone in this thread had concerns about the same thing. mikes story was coming to an end and everything else they could come up with from now wouldnt be in line with what the show started out to be | ||

 And yeah, I think Season 8 will be a complete disaster. Donna, Harvey, Alex, and Louis are great, but they weren't the central premise of the show. It's just gonna be random relationship drama and superficial law firm lawsuits until the end of Season 8/ the series. | ||

Well, Suits is chasing television as USA Network is in the same basic boat as HBO, which is that it doesn't have a future to replace its last best franchise and all the marginally good ideas are being snatched up by Netflix and Amazon. I think Suits is also in a weird place where it can't pivot back to its roots as a light-hearted comedy with Mike leaving, it can't really go darker in its themes in an oversaturated market without getting ridiculous, and it seems a bit cheesy to go deeper into the drama. I mean, the existing story lines are at a place where Harvey and Louis need not even be lawyers any more. Here's hoping the show can delve beyond romance into legal themes like having Harvey and Louis schmoozing with New York's legal, political, and financial elites. Suits has always been at its best in the dark corners of criminal defense, protecting people in dubious circumstances from overzealous prosecutors. | ||

Also, I feel really bad for Paula and Harvey. They were happy and Harvey was sincerely trying to make things work, and then Donna's kiss really screwed with him. The line about how Donna made him into the one thing he didn't want to be (a cheater, because of his parents) was really sad. Also, why isn't Mike ready to be senior partner yet? I know that it typically takes more time but he's quite atypical, and Donna gave no reason at all. | ||

Even is he impressed that one client that did get dropped in his lap. But the episode was weak. Far too much drama, not enough lawyering. And nailing Jessica to the cross just feels like a shitty out. | ||
