That power-up feels bull though. Not like it's the first one (the dude in the cooker training him was a big flag already), but everytime we get a shonen chapter and not the more psychological stuff ToG used to have my faith dies a little more.

Just enjoy the story. What's wrong about random power ups? I don't see how it makes the story worse. ToG world is so big that some major skips of some sort have to happen or the manhwa would never end. It was clear this would happen from the moment Hoaquin's clone said she would choose which side to help and also this whole train arc might very well be a setup to make Baam ranker level in the first place.
I personally don't enjoy linear stories I rather have well thought and presented powerups like this than some shit like Bleach or DBZ (which was still great even though people randomly got up and resurrected through sheer power of friendship or whatever)

yeah in a story like tog you cant not have powerups here and there, especially given the ridiculous level of the guys at the top of the tower

Indeed, let's not forget he's not even close to the level those guys are.
But there's probably a catch somewhere. There's no way he'll get such powers ups and gets to keep them. Else he won't need his friend around him anymore. Or at least they would serve little purpose in fights or leveling up the tower.

Looks like we're nearing the end of season 2 after this chapter.

Generic shonen stuff happens. Baam gets an extraordinary power-up the White clone didn't expect him to survive. Copies Joaquin's sword technique with a sword forged from shinsoo from the anger of the souls he was given and saves Miseng. A little more feels from a backstory about Daniel and Roen. It's all rote repetition at this point but I don't think anyone ever read shonen for their variety in storytelling.

Man last week I was disappointed with Bam receiving a power up but the way the author portrays it just makes him all the more badass. This comic is nearing One Piece for me.

Would have liked to see Baam get punished for his decision to save the enemies as well and get some development that way but I digress. Pretty much expected White's girl clone would help Baam as soon as she was introduced as a neutral third party in the game.

From SUI's Blog post, it seems the power up is temporary. So lets see what happens. Oh and that now he is gonna use more of FUG's techniques.
