+ Show Spoiler +The fact that someone would cheat on LMJ for that doctor lady makes zero sense.

I dunno, 0909.
+ Show Spoiler +Jang Hee Jin is pretty foxy, I could probably be convinced to sleep with her if she asked nicely, even in the alternate universe where Lee Min Jung is my fiance.

Notice the trend after Gumiho, many of the popular dramas are the fantasy/phenomena romance and comedy stories.

I dislike streaming dramas but first time trying viki, the comments... No offense with the comments but its full of PMS'ing females and the random bro troll. Though I find it quite amusing at times.

+ Show Spoiler [Big EP03] +LOL at Suzy's character. It's absolutely hilarious Even though I just know that this drama is gonna be your standard Korean Rom/Com I'm definitely seeing this on through.

There's an option to turn off the comments.

Recommend me a good taiwanese drama please! Also, any serious\mystical korean\taiwanese\japanese dramas would do too, as long as it's good.
What do you guys watch right now? Finished watching?

mystical? time travel? Queen In Hyuns Man, Rooftop Prince and Timeslip Dr Jin seem to fit the profile. Not really serious tho.

Skip-Beat (Taiwanese version) is cheesy-funny with some great emotional scenes, watch it if you have time. Choi Si Won and Lee Donghae of Super Junior are lead actors, and though their lines are dubbed, it's pretty cool to see them in a Taiwanese drama!
Other good Taiwnese dramas are 'My Queen' and 'Fated to Love You'. I've not watched My Queen before but I've heard good things about it. Fated to Love You, while old, is AWESOME. Genuinely funny and heart-wrenchingly sad at all the right times, it's easily in my top 3 for the best drama (and I've watched like 50 dramas)!
Okay, enough about non-Korean dramas from me!

I just got into K-dramas, woot!!! Except it is ruining my life... (as in I spend way to much time watching them)
So I have seen My Girlfriend is a Gumiho and Secret Garden. Both are good, but MGiaG is awesome!! Like the best tv show ever. SG is okay, more opinion below.
MGiaG Plot + Show Spoiler + Is soo good, I really got into the characters, MiHo is soo cute and adorable. The plot is heart-wrenching and I couldn't help but cry (yes, I am man enough to admit it!!). The grandfather was awesome, so funny and animated. The aunt/director combo was super funny and cheesy. But I never felt that they over did their part and was tooo cheesy. Just the right amount of cheese. Hyomin (<3 T-Ara) was also cute, even though she wasn't too involved. I hated Noona, that controlling, manipulative ... women. Which is exactly as her role should be. The goblin/human guy was okay, although at the time I didn't know you could turn off the user comments on viki. OMG!! Hot Guy!! Sexy alert!! etc etc etc etc pretty annoying. Cha Dae-woong was a good actor and I thought he did a really good job.
The only thing about the plot I didn't like and thought they should've changed was the goblin. It seemed liked he came out of nowhere and was only used to forward the plot (aka telling MiHo that she will kill Dae-woong). I just thought they writers could've come up with a better idea (not that I know of any off hand).
Plot for SG + Show Spoiler +Again it was pretty good. My favourite story line was not Kim Joo Won / Gil Ra Im; but rather the Oska / Yoon Seul. That story just seemed more believable to me, ie likely to happen. Kim Joo Won just seemed like a spoiled brat for the majority of the series and I had no idea why Gil Ra Im would ever fall for him. He also seems overly sexually aggressive to her, like she tells him to leave but then he chases her and hugs her on a bed, etc. This may not ring true for you but I couldn't get over this and thus their relationship seemed superficial and not true. The other relationships seemed fine
Questions, contains spoilers from SG and AGiaG + Show Spoiler + 1) Do most K-dramas follow the basic plots of SG and AGiaG? Girl/Guy don't like each other but have to spend time together (insert plot device). Learn to like each other but the reality of their lives separates them. Learns that they can not live apart, fall in love. Fall in love but realize that if they stay together they risk injuring their partner more. Separate so that each other can be happy. Then realize they can't live without each other. Happily ever after, etc. Same as other k-dramas?
2) I am trying to learn about Korea (language, culture, food, people, etc). It was my understanding that Koreans don't really show their affection for each other publically. But in SG, Kim Joo Won/Gil Ra Im were making out on the dance floor. Is that something that would be typical or atypical in Korea? My understanding is that it was going to far and that their would be a backlash against them (friends calling them out?). I know it is a k-drama (DRAMA!), but help me here, please.
3) Continuing on the same vein, is it typical for a bf or male to drag their female counterpart around by the wrist? It seems to me to be pretty rude and intrusive. Thoughts?
Do you think I should read the manga: Boys before Flowers or watch the k-drama first? I am planning to watch City Hunter and Dream High, when I can patch the rest of my life together after the other two dramas pretty much ruined it.

just started i do i do. pretty good so far haha

Sharkey,
1, That's a romantic drama synopsis nailed on the head. There are roughly a million Kdramas that follow that almost to the letter. 2. Korea is certainly more reserved than the west in most regards, but clubs are clubs and people are people. Alcohol is a quite powerful inhibitor of reservations. 3. I've noticed that too. Going to generalise wildly here, but there seems to be a large section of Korean women who play up to the ultra feminine, helpless dame stereotype (not just Korea, Japan even has a name for this: a discussion for another time). It's tended to fall out of favour in the west due to women's lib and such, but is very much a popular theme running through a lot of K-drama. Hence the wrist dragging and 140lb men acting like tough guys.
I have seen the Korean Boys over Flowers and it's well worth the watch, despite the female lead having a face like a smacked ass.

Hey, I am currently watching 샐러리맨 초한지 ( history of a salaryman) and was wondering where is a good place to get eng subs for it. As DSS has only up til episode 9 subbed at them moment. Because some websites subs are just straight up so bad that I can tell it is off even with my limited Korean.

Ok guys, not sure how many of you have caught this yet, but there's a new show called Ghost.
It's fucking awesome. Plot twist every 10 seconds and the main girl is gorgeous.
Also realistic hacking. First time I've seen it in a show since... ever.

Viki.com is a very good site for K-Dramas. You might need a proxy though depending on where you are located.

So Ji Sub in as main should be good.
edit: And QT Yeon Hee =)
First episode of Ghost, loving it so far. And yes... Some legitimate stuff, at least there are no hilariously lame hacking interfaces.

Aside from the pretty unrealistic thing that happens in one of the first episodes, this series is the most interesting/realistic k-drama I've seen in a long time.
It's a pleasant surprise so far :D
Also the little assistant reporter girl is such a qtpie.

The plot twists, dafaq? Hmm... Kinda changes my perception of this drama.
edit: Damn, phantom of the opera bgm is creepy -_-;
Indeed QTpie with shoulder length hair = elite tier

Yeah I've been following Ghost for awhile now. I'm really liking the plot and this drama pretty much started my Lee Yeon Hee addiction
