He hasn't been working for Gus for a super long time, it just seems that way because we have to wait a year+ between seasons and a week between episodes. For example, this season started literally where season 2 left off. It's been a month, maybe 2. $800k for the car wash, $600k+ for Ted, Saul's fees, all of Walt and Hank's medical bills, etc. He has lost a lot of money this season, and he only started working in the lab about halfway through last season. Yeah, I tried to do the math on this too. Walt makes $7.5 million a year, or $625,000 a month. I'm not sure how long he's been working for Gus. But $617,000 to the IRS plus the $800,000 for the carwash is $1.4 million. If he's been working for Gus for 3 months, that would give him $1.8 million, leaving him about a $100,000 short of the $500,000 needed to erase his identity. He could have even less, once you factor in that they been paying for Hank's treatment, paying for Walt's treatment, buying and setting cars on fire, etc. Edit: I forgot about Saul's expensive fees.

Edit: I forgot about Saul's expensive fees. Yup, they've shelled out so much for various services, I think $250k went to getting Badger off with the guy who they paid to take the fall, and tons of other things I can't really remember O.o. The money seems to be pretty realistic.

Plus his surgery, which would be $200,000 or so. Edit: oops, you accounted for that.

Plus even that Betecker guy is dead and needs to be explained. Idk if they need to explain it. It looked like an accidental death and he just tripped into the stand/table thing Edit: I thought you meant ted beneke? Gale Boetticher was already semi covered up by Gus

Assuming Walt can't summon the money to pay for the identify vanish deluxe stuff, I imagine Jesse will finally pull through for Walt and kill Gus (probably under some weird, high pressure scenario that happens to benefit himself and Walt). I don't think they'll go to the DEA because coming clean would probably damage the future of the show..

Not sure how walts character developed but my guess is he'll send his wife and son away with new identities as providing for his family before his death was his original lie, and face gus how ever he can. Not sure if it's in walts character to tell hank anything, considering it has 18 more episodes my bet would be he handles gus but then hank peruses him to the end.

I'm so glad that wasn't the season finale. The wait would be unbearable. I love Breaking Bad. + Show Spoiler + On the subject of the money. Couldn't they have Ted (Assuming he's not dead) sign a new check to Skylar before the check to the IRS arrives?

Shit. + Show Spoiler + Well, it seems that this time, Walt is completely hopeless. No money, nowhere to go, the DEA tipped off about Hank and Gus coming for Walt's family, and Jesse completely inaccessible. The only way I see Walt getting out of this is if Jesse finally goes through with killing Gus. Or maybe the DEA will catch on to Gustavo's involvement in all of this and catch him, although I have no idea how they would play out season 5 of Breaking Bad with that. God I can't wait for next Monday. If they finish this season on another cliffhanger I swear to god. i thought walter had saul call in the threat about the cartel and hank? why would anyone think that saul is next to die? i really hope not. he's my fav character; i also really really like his voice. + Show Spoiler + if his voice had a vajayjay, i'd prolly hit it i think walter is going to commit suicide after he sends his family away.
