Killing Jaime for the Iron Born? No way man Jaime is Azor Ahai reborn + Show Spoiler +Nah he is not, but he is awesome There's a pretty good tinfoil read on that though which could kinda make sense if Azor Ahai =/= PtwP. But in reality he probably isn't :D Show nested quote +On May 21 2015 06:45 Stratos_speAr wrote:On May 21 2015 06:39 Emon_ wrote: Perhaps there is room for a split season 6 - focusing on Iron born, Dorne, Northren lords, Riverlands, all that good jazz. This season feels a bit thin... can only imagine what its like for folks that havent read the books I think they've already confirmed that they're cutting a lot of those subplots (Northern Lords, Riverlands, Ironborn) from the show entirely. Not 100% on that though. + Show Spoiler [S5E10 maybe] + Yeah i did read the Jaime = Azor Ahai tinfoil :D At this point it pretty much has to be Jon though, which is kinda boring tbh, i hope GRRM can find a little twist there. I hope Jaime gets a good ending though, one of my favorites for sure (which is why i have to cringe even harder when i look at the current Jaime storyline in the show -.-)

There actually was some guy saying it wasn't rape because Sansa had to expect it to happen. You can't make this shit up sometimes. Why bring this up, if you sont want people to discuss it?
Anyway, I'll bite. Sort of. Kickstart put it nicely in the other thread so I'll just quote him:
On May 24 2015 06:42 Kickstart wrote: ... Second, it wasn't even rape in the GoT world, it was EXACTLY what is expected to happen, and what Sansas character knew would happen, she got married (which she had the choice to not do) - and the marriage was consummated. And finally, a rape where some random man forces himself on some random woman in the GoT world is something I'm sure would be against the laws there (not sure if that scenario has played out but I'm sure the attacker would be punished), but, you have to remember that in the GoT world (and much of the world in real life, present and past) woman are second class citizens and basically property; Sansa agreed to (which is more of a choice than normal in the GoT world, most woman have been married off by their families, they had no choice in the matter) the marriage, and thus she became Ramsey's property. Did she want to have sex with him, probably not, but again, marriage was done, she is now considered his property, and consummation after the marriage was entirely expected.
Anyone who is seriously upset or outraged over the scene needs to grow up or watch a different show.

I think people need to learn to differentiate between "It wasn't rape" and "It wasn't considered rape back then", because those are two entirely different things, yet are used interchangeably in those discussions.

Huh? We are discussing a TV show/Book. Hoster Tully isn't a meanie for arranging marriages for his kids against their will. Ned Stark isn't evil for chopping people's heads off for deserting. Neither is Ramsay in the wrong when he consummates his marriage. Because that's what expected in that context (making Theon watch is twisted, but that doesn't seem to be your objection).
I don't think you can find a post where someone claims it's okay for a husband to have sex against his wife's will in modern western society. And if there are someone arguing that point, they are obviously an idiot.
The default form of discussing a work of fiction is within that world. It should be specifically noted when comparing it to our society. Not the other way around.
|
You're missing my point: When someone says "It's not rape", then it can easily be (mis)interpreted as "It's not rape by the current definition of the word" which, obviously, would be a ludicrous statement. And hence people start to argue and shout at each other and yadda yadda. With a sensitive topic like this one, it's especially important to be very, very clear with what you are trying to say.

Prediction time!
- Cersei's walk of shame will be cut and replaced with a scene of the High Septon raping her. - Jamie and Bronn will get raped by the sand snakes. - Jaquen h'gar will rape Arya as an initiation rite. - Ramsey will be tortured and raped by Sansa. - Lady Olenna will rape Legolas (or what's his name?) - Dany will fly away from the arena and get dragon-raped in the nest. - Episode 10: Big rape finale!

Lol, nice! Who is that Legolas, though?

My guess would be Loras.
Curious to see this week's episode. Any real non-moronic predictions guys?

Lol, nice! Who is that Legolas, though? My guess would be Loras. Curious to see this week's episode. Any real non-moronic predictions guys? My predictions based on the trailer: - Jon leaves for Hardholme, but nothing happens yet - Stannis arrives at Winterfell, but no fight happens yet - Sansa still has friends in the North - Tyrion & Co. arrives at Mereen but they don't find a cock merchant - Grandma Tyrell kicks the High Sparrow's ass, Cersei is arrested (maybe this is a bit too early, though?) - Arya dons a new face (if she will be in this episode at all), maybe kills someone (maybe Meryn F. Trant) - Dany should leave on Drogon any episode now, now that she opened the pits, but I have a feeling it will only happen it the 9th or 10th episode.
So, basically, I think nothing impactful is going to happen this episode.

- Loras dies or gets maimed - Meeren after Tyrion's arrival is going to be awful because of shitty CGI and skipped events - Something big happens beyond the wall, it will be different from the book version

Loras is her grandson so I believe he meant Lancel Lannister when he said Legolas.

Them Egg references and that Ghost appearance, best parts of this episode. Btw, why did that sand sister cure Bronn...?
|
Mediocre episode, got some plots moving though.
|
Next episode we will get some showdown though, tyrion meeting Dany, Jon in hardhome, Cersei's walk.
Gotta add a footnote to that Theon Sansa scene tho, when he opened the door on Ramsey have to say that I was surprised, that motherfucker...
|
I didn't think the Dorne story line could get any worse and I was wrong. That was laugh out loud terrible with Bronn and the Sand Snake stripping in prison.
|
Yeah that scene was terrible, the only consequence of Bronn's poisoning was that scene, which made no semse. If its an attempt to recreate Arys Oakheart, its really bad
