I was surprised that Melisandre mentioned Balon in the first place, to be honest. In the show, they already replaced Balon with Mance Rayder early on when talking about the war of the 5 kings, if I remember correctly, and Balon always seemed quite unimportant in the grand scheme of things.
Pretty good so far, although I've only read a few pages, the illustrations are the best part. Doesn't seem like it will be revealing too much info that was previously unknown like I was hoping. GRRM did say there will be some revelations in it though. My question got selected to be asked at the panel yesterday: I asked "Dragons being born seems to be connected to fire and death. Does birthing a dragon require a human sacrifice?" And he said "There are some things in the books that might lead you to believe that. I'm going to elect to dodge that question for now though."

There are rumors about this, it requires the use of blood magic with king's blood.

He would burn himself in a pool of bacon, trying to bring dragons into the world...
...only to be Azor Ahai born again amidst smoke and salt.
And he shall wield Lightbringer, the red pencil of heroes. The blank pages shall flee before him, and he'll write about a summer that never ends.
So no flashbacks, either, at least not through him. Which makes it even weirder that they cast Maggy the Frog for the upcoming season. Are they really going to do regular flashbacks, something they've chosen not to do for 4 season? Or is Maggy going to appear in the present time and give Cersei her prophecy then?
