why didnt they wake up when the van rolled over off the road, that was supposed to be a kick and if hes been away/running out of the country for quite some time, why are his children still the same age.

I think that they need to fall both in their dream and physically in order to wake up. If you remember in the beginning Cobb didn't initially wake up when they kicked him, he woke up after the second kick when he hit the water however they didn't show his dream and what he did to wake up... that being said I have rolled off my bed countless times and have stayed asleep. The only time I waken up is if I dream that I'm falling at the same time I'm physically falling halfway off the bed. That is when I get the sense Im falling and wake up. I assume this is what needs to be done in the movie as well even though they didn't specfically say it. However they did indeed show it when Adriande falls off the cliff.

Whats with everyone trying to point out plot holes in a sci fi movie, just enjoy it. there are no plot holes... the point of these kinds of movies is to incite discussion about possible plot holes etc the story has been in the making for like 10 years, i'm pretty sure they worked out any possible "plot holes" years ago also, remember to read as much discussion and article posts as you can before you watch a second time, will help you as you watch a second i'm trying to watch it a second time, but idk when i will :o

Final Fantasy games should get depths like this. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1375666/board/nest/167024711?p=1 That's kind of hot. I actually had the same debate with my dad today. Also, the numbers were messed up. Thinking about it more kind of irks me. For instance, when Ariadne is first introduced to the dream world, after coming out Cobb says "give us five more minutes" and she interjects with "Five minutes?! We were talking for almost an hour!" Then Arthur goes on and says that 5 minutes in the real world is tantamount to an hour in the dream world. 5 minutes to 60 minutes: x12 multiplier. After the team is assembled and they begin talking about the three-layered dream, it is "calculated" that the dream levels would correspond to this: 5 minutes (real world) = 60 minutes (1st level dream) = 6 months (2nd level dream) = 10 years (3rd level dream). The multiplier of x12 jumps up to (around) a whopping x4320, then back down to x20. Yeah, it's a small thing but for a movie with such a complicated and mind-boggling plot, I wish the makers would have taken two minutes to fix the statistics :/
