Amazing, amazing movie. Totally outshone by Oldboy (and the rest of the Vengeance trilogy), Memories of Murder, etc. but just as good if not better imo.
I have to second.. and third.. and forth this. Absolutely one of my favorites of all times. I honestly think this is better than or on par with Old Boy.

It's Swedish.
This one is equally great.
Pelle erobreren (Pelle the Conqueror) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093713/ The end of the 19th century. A boat filled with Swedish emigrants comes to the Danish island of Bornholm. Among them are Lasse and his son Pelle who move to Denmark to find work. They find employment at a large farm, but are treated as the lowest form of life. Pelle starts to speak Danish but is still harassed as a foreigner. But none of them wants to give up their dream of finding a better life than the life they left in Sweden.
If you find it funny to make others people from the teamliquid community to waste 102minutes of their lifes, I just have to tell you - We have other things to do. This movie is so terrible, no humour, no intensitivity, no suprices it would be like watching Backho versus Idra finding yourself cheering at Idea (yugh) because of the intence lack of suspence. The only movie in mind there might be just as mad is another Nicolas Cage movie "The wicker man" and everyones information that is just so bad, if your high school teacher ever had a laughed in her life it was because of movie, just made to make women think they actual can handle a life on their own - So unreal.
You are obviously not old enough to understand the meaning or the comedy in the film. As I am approaching closer and closer to be released in the real world I find this movie encapsulates and visualizes some of my fears as I am closer to coming to that period. This movie isn't about the over the top drama people see, but rather the person with the job that is losing everything else in his life. He does so much for his family and tried to help and connect to people but each time he tries it becomes worse and worse for him, and in that way it is ironically funny.
Rather than having some breakthrough or something melodramatic happening, the main character played by Nick Cage instead comes to a compromise with moving on in his life from trying to reconnect to his family to having a better life and making sure the few people he can care about are safe and happy.
It's really sad to see some TL members to have such a narrow outlook on life, but I guess in a few years this movie will mean a lot more to you than it does now.
Billy Bathgate-Saw this movie when I was about 11 or 12, totally loved it. Haven't seen it since so I don't know well how it's held up.
The Man in the Iron Mask-Although this is a big budget and has many many top Hollywood stars, I think many TLers may not have heard or seen this movie. It's surprisingly good.
Buckaroo Banzai-Don't remember the movie too much to be honest, but the end credits is the best thing about this movie.
cloudy with a chance of meatballs probably the funniest animated film i've ever seen trailers made it look like shit but turned out to be surprisingly good. i highly recommend it.
I highly recommend Willow, it's like LOTR in under two hours by George Lucas. It basically follows the story of a baby princess girl that has to survive by an evil Queen who wants her killed. The fellowship includes a regular human (Val Kilmer), a midget (Warwick Davis), and two browners (the size of your thumbs) and they go through battles, monsters, and magic to save the world.
[Foreign] A destitute immigrant worker steals an envelope containing instructions for a mysterious job that could pay out a fortune. Following the instructions, the young man unwittingly becomes trapped in a dark and dangerous situation.
Young Brendan lives in a remote medieval outpost under siege from barbarian raids. But a new life of adventure beckons when a celebrated master Illuminator arrives from foreign lands carrying an ancient but unfinished book, brimming with secret wisdom and powers. To help complete the magical book, Brendan has to overcome his deepest fears on a dangerous quest that takes him into the enchanted forest where mythical creatures hide.
A psychological semi-thriller about a mans solitary work on the moon and his struggle with life, sanity and identity. Sam Rockwell should have gotten a nomination for his role in this film.
Adventures of Baron von Munchausen. A really funny story about old worn out super heroes, sort of depressing, but really funny, and it's one of my favorite movies.

I actually enjoyed the wicker man, perhaps you should calm down?
