None so vile is one of the best death metal records ever IMO. Also Gorguts is classic And of course, Pestilence: Pestilence is my favorite out of those, even though I am one of the few that enjoyed Testimony of the Ancients more than Consuming Impulse ![]() Cryptosy's "None so Vile" is just about the only thing by them I liked and Gorguts were better as less ambitious DM that what they created with Obscura IMO, still a very fun record. Are any of you into thrash? Cause I have been on a roll, listening to a lot of Sodom and Vektor

Someone a few pages back said short hair and clean vocals is not metal. Caring about your appearance is not metal, and since having short hair is more practical they're the ones who dont give a shit. long hair is metal for the stage presence (why i have it at least) and if i wasnt in a band dear god i would have cut this shit off ages ago....Clean vocals are metal and are aesthetically essential to most manifestations of the genre, and simply dismissing them from your repertoire is really going to hurt your bands dynamics (unless you just got some beast ass motherfucker chris barnes type)

Guy above me who thinks we only post death metal in this thread, take the dildos out of your ears and listen - not every thing with rough vocals is death metal. Metal is sometimes nuanced and complex enough that you can have genre differentiation and still have similar vocals. Chya.

Behold Oblivion: I Am Abomination (might be too much clear vocals for some of you :p) and i hope these next two are reposts, otherwise it would be sad that they haven't been mentioned yet: The Human Abstract: and Veil of Maya:

(even as a guitar player). Being able to play fast is impressive and all but almost none of those shredding guitarists actually write good songs. Veil of Maya is awesome though, still gotta catch them live sometime :D.

Also I've been crushing on Marco for the last like decade, lolol SDF:KSJDFHKSDJFH i'm in love... dat voice omg Sadly, age hasn't been so kind to the rest of the band T_T Fucking incredible stage presence. I'd give at least a few non-vital organs to get Tarot to tour just once in the states... Anyone who likes these should watch the entire Undead Indeed album... so fucking awesome. edit: throwing more favorites in spoiler: + Show Spoiler + swoon aweaweaeaweawesome Most metal way to be buried I used to not like their older stuff which wreaks of the 80's, but lately I've been loving it.

Obscura isn't for everyone I suppose =p, but yeah, their standard DM releases are quite good. I don't listen to a lot of thrash but those 2 songs sounded good, I'll check out the albums. Anyway here's an excellent song from the band Ulver, a black metal band that uses a lot of clean vocals. If you like Opeth you will probably like Ulver.

Obscura deffo is something to get acustomed to, once you get into it, it is a really fun listen though. I digg Ulver, "Bergtatt - Et Eventyr i fem capitler" is really good, I had a harder time liking "Nattens Madrigal" because of the EXTREMELY thin production. If you wanna listen to some good thrash the classics (Slayer's 5 first and RiP by Megadeth) are mandatory! :D Vektor delivered with "Black Future" the best thrash record in decades. It is innovative, challenging and still remains thrashy as hell. If you like death metal there is a chance you will digg Demolition Hammer as they have a really harsh deathy vibe without ever moving away from the thrash:
