xasthur is pretty cool, less witch-screams if that's what you prefer.

From Athens, GA, no less. Got to fly home colors, right? Here's another one if you're not convinced, complete with three minutes of extraneous feedback. What brass-plated nutsacks on these guys.

If you are into that type of black metal you should also check out the bands Krallice, and also one of my favorites Weakling, Weakling is fucking amazing, I thought i was one of the only people who knew them. One of my favorite albums. Gotta love Wolves and Xasthur as well.

Watch, I can do this too! See, that there is finnish "metal" with repetitive, samey riffs over a generic, marginally talented female vocalist, with lyrics about disney! Shut up dude. American Metal, by and large absolutely sucks in comparison to European metal, and i would even say Asian bands are superior to that of the crap produced here in the US. Just because you can point out a few exceptions doesn't change a trend. Matter of taste, there's a LOT of excellent death metal bands in the US (NIle, The faceless, Death, Monstrosity, Decrepit Birth and many more) and a lot of utterly crappy pseudo-melodic heavy/black metal bands in Europe. Btw as you can see I'm european.

Also, Nihilist. The band which later spawned Entombed and arguably one of the most important Death Metal bands that appeared around the late 80s. And while we're discussing Nihilist and Entombed, I have to mention Death Breath, a somewhat new band formed by one of the masterminds of Nihilist/Entombed (and Hellacopters, hehe).

I've never heard of Xasthur, i'll check them out. But yes Weakling is awesome. And I have not met another person who's heard of them either. haha. Any other black metal you might recommenced? Leviathan is pretty awesome. Also, it's not metal, but I'd say it deserves to go here as it's made by several members of Darkthrone. I just can't get enough of the drone ambient stuff, and no one can make it darker and more mysterious than black metal musicians.

For the programs I used, it's Logic Pro 9 as recording and mastering program (though I'm not very good at the last =P) and the drums are basically one of logic's built in midi drums. Not as good as a real drum set but I don't have money for that. ^^ Also for the guitars overdrive etc I used Pod Farm 2, if you're interested and use Pod as well I could give you a link to an overdrive that does wonders =P
