I think it's easier to appreciate them when actually being able to understand the lyrics, they make a huge part of the music's atmosphere for me. But yeah, awesome band ![]()

No. This is American metal: This too: Also, this: What you got there is just shitty metal. Watch, I can do this too! See, that there is finnish "metal" with repetitive, samey riffs over a generic, marginally talented female vocalist, with lyrics about disney! Seriously. Don't shit on American metal. There's bad metal the world over.

NP: Megadeth - Rust in Peace I can't say I love or adore Megadeth much. It's a cool enough album though. Mustaine is kinda like Idra, minus the beautiful long, ginger hair.

Dude, I love it when a band comes out of no where and creates some insanely transcendent music. One of my favorites. And since we're talking about different parts of the country, here's my contribution. America (Fuck yeah) Japan This song is an hour long. Sweden Canada Mexico France

American Metal, by and large absolutely sucks in comparison to European metal, and i would even say Asian bands are superior to that of the crap produced here in the US. Just because you can point out a few exceptions doesn't change a trend.

Good if you like epic-black-witch-metal by guys who allegedly may have engaged in some eco-terrorism.

Just because you can point out a few exceptions doesn't change a trend. Dear god, I can't believe I'm even having this conversation. Listen, just because Americans have mainstreamed metal to the point of unintentional hilarity doesn't mean there's any LESS good stuff here, it just means the static ratio is higher. I mean, let's look at the evidence. What about the NOLA metal scene with bands like this, and this, Meanwhile, I hear the Georgia psych/sludge scene is fairing pretty well. I mean, they've got these guys: Maybe you've heard of them. And while we're at it, from the same scene: As well as: Or how about the insane amount of quality post-metal that gets churned out from California to Philidelphia. These guys were kind of a big deal, only influencing every fucking band that came after them for the next 20 years: And when I say influenced, I mean that THESE guys basically started off as a Neurosis rip-off before revolutionizing their genre: And when talking about post-metal, my personal favorite will always be these guys, who set out to copy Isis' sound and ended up drop-kicking Oceanic into a steaming pile of shit with their DEBUT ALBUM: And hey, while we're on the topic of Wolves in the Throne Room, we can't leave out a thriving Northwest coast black metal scene: I could go on, but I think you get the picture. If you're discounting American metal just because we've ALSO built an industry out of hyping shitty bands, you're either high or fucking stupid.

I love wolves in the throne room. I actually posted that song a couple pages back. If you are into that type of black metal you should also check out the bands Krallice, and also one of my favorites Weakling,
