Dio to me is by far the better singer, but with him a lot of their songs seemed interchangeable. Definitely not the same creativity as the old black sabbath IMO NOOOOO. GO HOME. In all honesty, I love Dio man, I do, but Ozzy Black Sabbath was indicative of an era. Solo Ozzy is nothing without sabbath, and vice versa. On a related note, a lot of my tastes these days falls into the stoner/doom camp: Starts off slow and builds into the most epic, fuzzed out riff-rape you've ever heard. Plus, the cover is Satan smoking a bong, and if that doesn't make you want to listen to it, you need to get the part of your brain that registers awesome checked. After you've recovered, this is a good one to come down on: I think it's a song about stoned space wizards. I'm not really sure. Watch the movie of the same name (Holy Mountain) for more information. Take the kids! Fun for the whole family! Incidentally, Sleep's guitarist, Matt Pike, founded High on Fire, which sounds kind of like this: You can't listen to this kind of shirtless barn-burning storm-the-battlefield-hate-fuck loud enough. You just can't. Taking a BIG LEFT TURN into prog/death territory, your meshuggah replacement just arrived: It's like it both hates your brain and finds it strangely sexy. Also, this happened back in may: If you like post-metal, you'll like this even more. Frankly, I think Rosetta's latest kicks the living shit out of Isis' last, but that's one man's opinion. Finally, just for fun, try this exercise. 1.) Adjust face 2.) Press Play 3.) Readjust face, as it has now been thoroughly rocked the fuck off. Julie Christmas skull-fucks most other female metal artists with a razor dildo. ...whew. I think I just blew my whole metal load in one post. I need a cigarette.

Could be ANYTHING, but if you want some classic albums you might wanna start with Iron Maiden. always a good tip as it's one of the best bands ever. ![]() Yeah, I'm not really familiar with all the sub-genre's of metal, so I thought it would be a safe buy to get a couple of classic albums from classic bands. So far I'm thinking of getting: Megadeth: Peace Sells... Rust in Peace Iron Maiden: Number of the Beast Powerslave Piece of Mind Slayer: Reign in Blood I've heard some Slipknot and I like what I hear, but one of my friends just keep on telling me they're bad, for kids, etc. And I don't really know about the current metal scene, just that another friend keeps on mentioning Opeth.

I didn't like A Sense of Purpose. Soundtrack to Your Escape wasn't at the caliber of their other albums, though it wasn't bad. Lunar Strain had some good songs but it wasn't that great overall. For a first album it was decent. Clayman IMO is their best album and maybe the best metal album of all time. It's truly incredible.

(Please, no Nu bashing :D) I'm mainly doing this to see how many metalheads we have on TL. I glanced at some music threads (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=48329) and saw considerable amounts of metal bands, so i thought there was at least some interest. So.....metalheads unite! Lets crush the KPOP thread :D Post stuff like... your favorite bands cool songs ect...ect... as of now, my favorite metal bands are.... Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Disturbed, Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Slipknot, Stratovarius, Iced Earth, Black Sabbath, Falconer, Mastodon, Shadows Fall, Opeth, Symphony X, Rage Against the Machine, Judas Priest, and a ton of other bands.... BTW, Megadeth's new album Endgame is being released soon, but they are streaming the songs on the MySpace music player thingy...(http://www.myspace.com/megadeth) I took a listen, and it was pretty damn good IMO. I'll probably get it when it comes out. My only problem with Megadeth is that Dave Mustaine sounds like he has a continual cold, but I guess some people like that. I don't think you can view rage against the machine as a metal band. But they rock nonetheless. Killswitch engage,36 crazy fists, protest the hero(depending on how you look at it), trivium.

Decapitated (RIP VITEK) Death (RIP CHUCK) Bolt Thrower Vomitory Dying Fetus Nile Iron Maiden Obituary Opeth (mainly old) Aborted (their new stuff is too corey, its not good) Amon Amarth (old stuff) Mayhem Burzum 1349 Behemoth Vader (mainly old, new stuff is okay) At the Gates Dark Tranquility (old) DarkThrone Bathory Emperor And some others I have probably missed from my collection, this thread does have a lot of "metal" bands that are not really worthy of the name. Metal is suppose to be heavy, hard and technically difficult......not emo and loud.
