And gosh, that new CNBlue song is really good. And dear God, Kouya Yori is such a good song. These days this song is spinning through my head again:

I don't follow kpop artists when they go to Japan, and I haven't followed Jpop at all in years. What do you mean by this ? Hate towards K-pop in Japan ? As far as I can tell, Kara & stuff are selling a fucking huge number of discs and getting the top of the Oricon. Maybe there is some hate on 2chan, but nothing really suprising to me since Japanese people tend to be a little xenophobic.

I don't follow kpop artists when they go to Japan, and I haven't followed Jpop at all in years. kouhaku = end of year, 3-4 hour long music show in japan. a very big deal to be selected. last year, no korean artists from this korean wave were selected despite having significant impact. japan and korea don't have a good history and there's lot of xenophobia especially among the older generation. therefore, i'm sure that selecting a kpop artist would incite the hyperconservatives which is why i want it to happen. of course, there were some shoddy artists selected last year that i'm sure were only included as part of a package deal. i'm sure NYC appearing had some relationship to Arashi hosting and JE's wide reach in the industry. and if you haven't heard, AKB48 and Terry Itou are hosting this year's Kouhaku. horray~

Korean media, however, always gives the impression that K-pop has a massive cultural presence, dominating charts, variety shows, and concerts. Just like 50Cent allegedly bought thousands of his own copies to inflate his sales numbers ![]() Anyways there a number of groups / singers that didn't need the so called "Hallyu Wave" to become popular. People like BoA, FT Island, DBSK, and most notably SuperNova (in which they're loved by Japanese people more than Koreans...) already had a foothold in Japan. Even actors / actresses like Ryu SiWon, Kim TaeHee, Choi JiWoo, and Bae YongJoon (the most popular out of everyone) have a ton of fans in Japan.
