what a music video! im gonna start watching more japanese music vids if theyre as good as this (and read some of this thread too!)

edit: damn cant believe how good they are

its kinda neat how shes so popular now since she basically started out as a berryz fan (particularly a fan of momo)

+ Show Spoiler +

have you a got a link so i can get their names and search youtube for more (otherwise i spend 50 hours browsing the sidebar suggestions, hell ill do that anyway)

so like, it looks like it is called DANCEROID... they need to be young otherwise how is little miku gonna get represented, huh? huh??

ooh white girl youtube.com/watch?v=ZU5OjbuUrSk

also what the flying feck? youtube.com/watch?v=CMpGX7TSUeE

the popular girl (in the first vid of this post) is Aikawa Kozue (commonly just called Kozue/こずえ)

I can't remember her niconico, but search for こずえ there and you'll find tons of videos, since thats generally where they get posted first.

She also posts them to youtube on her xxxayu3 account: http://www.youtube.com/user/xxxayu3
There are couple accounts dedicated to archiving some of her older stuff, such as http://www.youtube.com/user/KozueClassic and there are some other ones as well.

AKB's single Heavy Rotation, which was realeased a long time ago. Think its still they're highest selling (or is that pony tail?).

soft core porn + mediocre song = massive sales. Who would have thought?

it's been the number 1 karaoke song in japan for a long time now.
maybe not the best in terms of songwriting (neither is the 99% of pop music, Occupy Music jokes etc.) but it's incredibly catchy and fun to sing along with.

So much fan service in the idol group like akb48 or mosume. They are barely wearing any clothes and doing plenty of yuri stuff. They are clearly aiming for a male audience arent they? What do girls listen to in japan, pop wise?

from an interview with the director of the video (Ninagawa Mika) and the producer of AKB48(Akimoto Yasushi):
+ Show Spoiler +

Interviewer: Mr. Akimoto asked Ms. Ninagawa to make the "Heavy Rotation" Music Video. Surprisingly, Ms. Ningawa dressed AKB48 up with sexy lingerie, and shot kiss scenes in the video. I have never heard of this scenario before.

Mika: I was under a lot of pressure because Mr. Akimoto left everything to me. He did not give me any tips at all. But this gave me more options to create interesting and exciting content. It pushed me to think deeply about how to make a good music video.

Yasushi: I just wanted to maximize Ms. Ninagawa's ability to make a good video. For example in the television show "Iron Chef", as a producer I just supply the raw material to the chef. It is the chefs job to think over the recipe to win the game. In this case, Ms. Ninagawa was the chef and AKB48 was the raw material.

Mika: I was so glad to take this job as a director, but again it was a lot of pressure on me. When I was wondering how to proceed, Mr. Akimoto came to me, saying "Please do what you want to do without any hesitation."

Yasushi: From my experience, I learn that creators lose their creativity if I give them detailed instructions. As a result, the outcome may be stale. So I let Ms. Ninagawa make "Heavy Rotation" in her way. I also expected to see a different AKB48, created by Ninagawa's world. Fans could watch their sexy lingerie and kiss scene in the video because it was Ms. Ninagawa decision. I mean, if the director were male, AKB48 might feel unpleasant and refuse to do that. AKB48 completely trusted Ms. Ninagawa, so there was no distrust.

Mika: I tried to show how AKB48 is in real life, in the video. In the dressing room, they seemed very close to each other. Then I came up with the concept, girl's high school. Mr. Akimoto agreed with this concept. In the video, I set several girl-girl scenes, such as lingerie or kiss scene. I explained to the girls of AKB48 that lingerie did not mean dirty sexuality. In general high school students wear sexy lingerie and show it to each other in the school. I explained my concept of how the lingerie was linked to the innocence and good of AKB48. They comfortably understood my concept and willingly accepted to wear lingerie. I asked AKB48 to choose their hair ornament, but I brought in my fashion team to do their hair and make up. Together we transformed them into a new AKB48. I could see different faces of AKB48 after that. Some members even fell asleep during the stand-by, which we recorded in the video. They were really cute.

Morning Musume wearing barely any clothing? I'm guessing you mean those costumes with their stomach expose.

As for what girls listen in Japan pop wise. Mostly Scandal, K-pop, and young girls listen to AKB48 nowadays from what I read.

Also I advice Soutaseiriron (Theory of Relativity). The singer's voice is very cute and relaxing and their music is very catchy. ♥

not as much as maru maru is. I can't find sales figures, but they must be astronomically high

kpop no. The anime music rule (it must have a proper PV that isn't just anime clips thrown together) is just to make sure the thread doesn't fill up with the OP/ED of every anime someone happens to like.

not as much as maru maru is. I can't find sales figures, but they must be astronomically high

http://www.riaj.or.jp/data/others/gold/201109.html

maru maru hit double platinum in september which is 500,000 sales.
the past 4 or 5 akb singles have had over a million sales on the first day, so unless maru maru doubled its own sales in 2 months then no, it did not break oricon like akb is doing.

The difference between MaruMaru and AKB48 is that people bought MaruMaru during weeks whereas AKB's fans all bought a copy the first day.

What if they're not OP/ED for an anime, but they have no PV(e.g. Denkare)?
