I wonder if LGD is just planning on using Stampede + Crimson/Pipe to support Huskar when they plan to push high ground.

OK, I hate to say this, but Miracle tilted.

Three enemy heroes jumped his support and he spent like 2-3 seconds still trying to hit creeps instead of just running the fuck away.

Who wouldn't tilt when in laning phase challice and xnova throws everyspell they could throw at you whenever you want to hit creeps lol

Fair enough

The story of the last 2 TIs is the same. 2 teams way above the rest of the pack, and that's saying something if the pack itself is extremely high level.

Was the pack that good this year?

How can it be good when game is just getting more random over years?

??
is this bait?

You can treat it as one. In my book, the more variables there are in game, the more random outcome gets.

what do you even mean by more variables? is this just a dusty "bounty runes and talents are bad for the game" take?

Not "bad", just "random".

But more variables doesn't mean just more randomness, but a higher skill cap. Rock-paper-scissors is random without many variables. Poker has more variables but is actually less random if I understand it correctly, because high level players can work with the variables while noobs can't.

And how does skill distribution in Poker look, then?

How would I know and how is that relevant? All I'm saying is amount of variables does not equal randomness, those two things can be related but not in a simple and linear way.

Because the entire point of mine is that the pack of teams under the 2 teams dominating this TI (and last one, at that) can't be entirely "good" because game is too random for that.

Wings is becoming a caster team lol, seen so many of them casting this TI on the official cn stream

Makes sense. Most of the team was really tier 2 at max, but they grinded so hard that they found ways to draft around their limitations. Though Faith`bian found a rare level of skill he probably couldn't replicate again.

Huh. I remember them dunking on everyone.

Individual skill wise relative to their competitors, Wings is probably the worst team out of all TI winners which make their run incredibly impressive.

Yup. I saw a lot of Wings. They were a "can qualify" team only until they started grinding until their hands were numb. They were able to outgrind everyone, then got a really favorable Bracket at TI. (They were a couple of Classic Jimmy moments from being stuck in the Lower Bracket.)

You have to understand that Wings figured out that you can pretty much always "cheese" a team with unknown combos. 7.00 nerfed Wings into the ground because their drafting advantage disappeared and, because they won, they weren't willing to grind so far.

But, let it be said, Faith`bian had one of the greatest TI runs of all time. He found a personal level he almost assuredly could never repeat.

Jakiro chip for days.

Otherwise not an enviable tower pushing lineup.

Right, but this eventually becomes a problem for keeping things competitive. The higher the cap, the fewer people will be able to hit it, and so the smaller your pool of viable "top tier" players becomes. Arguably the similarity of the top teams between TI8/TI9 suggests Dota is close to maxing out its cap for maintaining a reasonable competitive scene... but at the same time there are so few professional games played, relatively speaking, that it would be ridiculous to say we can make that statement confidently. But if the results next year through the next year are as similar, maybe we get more confident about that guess.
