Anyone know what Chinese pros have been saying? There were some people here yesterday/day before that were watching pro streams and telling us what they said. Especially about how they didn't think Secret was as much of a threat as EG because they said they could counter EE.

Yeah idk about where the source came from though.

it was a reddit thread with a translation from chuan's stream iirc

I think that reddit thread was actually translations of sgamer, which is slightly above nadota in posting quality

No, it was a post match panel of MLG New Orleans with Zhou + 3 others, which was translated by redditors, where they mentioned that Chinese wont fear any team with EE.

Hmm I'm pretty sure the sgamer forum posts the same things although you're right

It was Zhou Lanm Chuan Yao mikasa casting

Idk what that is exactly about, pretty sure both Yao and Chuan have lost to EE's teams more than they have won. But I'm not sure what exactly was said, them not expecting this Secret lineup to do this well (at least for now) isn't too surprising I guess. I don't know if they had much reason to "fear" other teams but EG after the shuffles on paper alone.

Well when this roster was first announced i honestly thought while it's good (the players of the roster ) i thought it was definetely weaker than secret 2.0 with arteezai (still do think it's weaker but the roster is still really really good).

Though the support duo for this Secret roster may be stronger than the old one. (the cores though the older roster is stronger imo it has fucking zai arteezy and s4)

To be honest, this secret roster works better than the one with arteezy/zai. Superb teamwork and execution.

Well that's a pretty big ask considering they won 4 LANs in a row, 3 of them against top level competition right before TI. If this Secret also does well in the major then sure one can say they have done even better than the old one, but before that it's a bit early to compare given how high the bar was before their disastrous TI run.

I'd argue not really if we count pre-TI5(even their "weak" performance at those times is still pretty crazy good like 3rd place DAC) and it's really hard to play as a team that has players that seems to doesn't wanna play with each other.

The old roster had some really good advantages like switchable 1 and 2 position that can both play mid at the highest level. Yeah just the cores in general was really good. There's no argument with zai later on he became really good at his role

The real problem with old Secret(2.0) is that they obviously didn't enjoy playing together but played together all in hopes of winning the chip. It appears that EE has learned the value of a positive and comfortable playing environment so if anything, the team dynamic is probably a lot better

Yeah pretty much even if the older roster had a stronger players (i mean they literally took the good parts of their former teams .. ofc that doesn't mean that ppd isn't the MVP of old eg but rtz is also pretty much the best greedy core you can pick up in the west ). The team that doesn't wanna kill each other is always kinda better.

I just thought that their personalities wouldn't mesh well together. Too much loud voices in the group despite winning all the lans before ti 5. It's pretty hard to say though since everyone was counting on secret to have ti5 in the bag.

I just thought this version of secret works better in synergy with each other. That's what i meant anyways haha. Less loud voices in the group, everyone have a perfect plan of how they will be executing it.

I meant just the combination of players and their individual skill overall is stronger why i think the old one would be stronger but look at what happened TI5 lol Maybe this team is really better(with all the other factors that the old roster didn't have) talking about long term but the older one had stronger "potential" i guess.

You guys had that impression because the previous roster consists of players that were in accomplished teams before, while this roster consists of good players who never had the chance or really good teammates before. The comparison of actual potential, noone can really confirm.

But this team is definitely better at handling non-game related issues as a team.

Reddit tends to go to extremes because of how the site/community works

The past year it's been EE sux EE is holding C9 back fata/misery/n0tail deserve better Secret is winning despite EE etc. and then EE plays godly big flashy plays and the EE fans come out of the woodworks

Well it was one of the most hyped up series since TI5, not too surprising that whatever plays happen in that get more attention than plays in some random online game.

I don't think it's that it's a hyped up series (although that might play into it than if he was just clowning on DC or something), it's that EE's positive effect on game tends to be more subtle (baits, creating space, good farm) while drawbacks/negatives can be obvious (going for a risky play and it not working out, or dying when baiting). In this series he still had some of the deaths he normally gets flamed for but he also had some really insane stuff like the Rosh steal into 1v4

other players also had less flame threads the last two years just consider it an understandable overcorrection and let it run its course
