I dont think many people realise this but last year it was 4 western teams and 4 eastern teams who placed top 8 at TI3.
The only real surprise was not a Chinese team in the top 3, but they placed 4, 5 and 6. It's alot closer than what people said "Western domination" lol. But yeah Alliance was the outlier beating pretty much everyone there.
This year, it really looks like the Western teams are on the backfoot.

I wouldn't be surprised the TOP 5 is exactly those 5 teams.

Yep that's my take on this too. I do agree. And it's perfectly fine. It's how things go. The one thing I don't like about their playstyle at the moment is that they are always forced to react. Na'Vi always brought aggression to the enemy team but at some point they started to go for a standard meta draft and started waiting for the opponent to bring the fight.

Sylar could have been on a dozen other heroes this game. When your team is making this much room for you with even a rooftrellan to buff up your 1 v prophet it really isn't one particular hero that's the problem.

none of the eg guys would even talk to godz after navi vs vg, what makes you think they want to cast lol? its not like bts can force them to.
edit: just as i say that we're gonna get some chinese translated content!

When VG lost to DK, they just stayed in their room and studied the replay. Navi on the other hand...

Yeah they were pretty crappy at WPC this time around(though they did play a close series against the eventual winners, iG) During G-League they beat VG and took a match off of DK. I wouldn't say they're terrible, they're just about average. I think they have enough quality to make it to 7/8th.
I think the Chinese teams might sweep the top 4(perhaps Na'Vi does some magical LB run again). But 5-8 is definitely probable for the West. Honestly besides DK/NB, I don't think any Chinese teams truly outclass the best in the West

You could give Sylar Rubick and he'd turn him into a hard carry. Seriously though I don't think there's a carry hero on which he isn't a complete beast.

That was 2 EG players + Fear. You have an appartment full of pros. Ask nicely, make it fun. I'm sure someone will be willing to help out (like Fy just now).

I agree, just saying his weaver is especially brutal.

Alliance looked definitely in the same league as that chinese top 5 where everybody beats everybody. And it's not like Alliance has been dominating the west like last year, Empire and EG seem to be at least as good.
I agree that chinese teams look better but they kinda did too last year before getting rolled by Alliance at G League.

Love how everyone uses Na'Vi as some benchmark for the entirety of the Western scene...
Even assuming that they'll actually make the finals of TI4, that doesn't change the fact that they're mediocre in every other during the lead-up.
Don't forget that Alliance placed 4th at WPC, and they haven't made any finals lately either.

Between jetlag, illness from travel, high stakes, pressure, secret strats, bracket randomness I doubt all Chinese teams resist to this so I expect at least one foreigner team to make it into the top4.

Would it bother any of you if the east did really well this year?
