I mean u virtually never buy stick on tinker since it just delays ur relevant timings and ur hitting the base non-stop anyway.
Its not like storm spirit specifically gives THAT many charges over other heroes. Heroes like bristle or batrider or zeus are the "must buy stick against" heroes. Even tinker gets a stick in those 1v1 matchups. In lane you can use stick as a regen item if u have to, after the laning phase you treat a 10/15 charge stick/wand as a virtual +maxHP item. Save it until it saves u from that last auto/spell, or gives you the mana for that last spell to secure a kill or an escape.
Arcanes are great on abba but tranquils do in a pinch if ur super-mega-ultra poor. The thing is abba doesn't really have to enter teamfights at full HP and u run out of mana before HP to cast all ur spells a bunch usually so tranqs are more for the mobility and armor than anything else (not that the regen hurts ofc). Treads suck and phase usually isn't worth it since its 900g for a tiny bit of mobility you could be putting towards a force or w/e.

Helpful thx. I typically get arcanes on Aba but just wondering.
Never bought a stick on tinker, ever, I think. But I may against those 3..
Mid Veno is another hero that stick is good against in lane, provided you're certain he's maxing Wards. It's far less useful if he's maxing Sting or Gale and not constantly spamming Wards.
If you get into a game as the only support (especially lower levels), it seems that buying the courier is your responsibility, but so is warding. In this kind of situation, should I be buying BOTH courier and wards, or start of courier and something like Branches, tangoes, and maybe a clarity or salve and then buy wards with your first 150 gold?
Also; assuming your constantly buying wards; Should your first gold go to boots or a stick?

Buy both, 2 branches, tango and clarity. Probably you will have to share tangoes to mid as well :D It's ok though, wards > everything, branch won't save you but if you can see danger - it's way better.
Boots is first buy usually if you're not in 2v1 against Batrider, 2v2 against Venomancer and so on. Bristleback as well, ofc.

Most of the time if I'm the only support I start with Tango, Observer, Sentry. Normally give one obs to the offlaner and put your second one in view of the safelane rune. Then quickly get to the trees near the lane so that you can see the offlaner right away to see if he has an obs ward/where he places it.
For the second question I almost always go boots first so that you don't have to spend a million years trying to roam mid to gank. Only time I really might get stick first is if we're against Bat or BB

dont get 1-2-2-1 at lvl 6. you have 0 solo kill potential 2-3-0-1 is the best up till lvl 6 so that you not only destroy your lane but you can actually solo kill anyone provided you lane your combo. at lvl 7 you should have 2-4-0-1 and at lvl 9 your build should be 2-4-2-1 from here it depends on whether their heroes have escapes or not. if youre vsing heroes like am/qop etc then go for 2-4-3-2 at lvl 11 so that you can x and throw your entire combo down otherwise go for torrent max and lvl up x as required maxing tidebringer is essential as it is your farming tool. obviously the damage output is important as well in fights
Can someone give me a link to a good thread in this forum about teamfighting? I am good at laning, ganking, jungling, split-pushing, everything... but I suck in teamfights. Maybe there is some coaching videos or some threads or some way that I can learn what / when / why / etc when it comes to teamfighting. Help?
teamfights is all about positioning. in a fight where farm and lvls are equal between teams, positioning is going to be the deciding factor how you position yourself to not only disrupt their skill usage and movement, but maximise the efficiency of yours is what makes the difference between good players and bad ones. for example, if youre rubick you position yourself so that youre not automatically in spell range of everything but not far enough that you cant throw any of your spells down and throw potshots from the side. if youre a carry such as sf or sniper (hard hitters but fragile), you want to position yourself so that you are always fighting at max range and that you dont get surrounded or cut off from your team when your supports try to run during a fight (which they will, as they will be focusing on their own positioning during a fight)
a good rule to follow if youre just starting off is to position yourself to not die though, rather than to get kills. obviously this can have a bad effect if some people start playing too passively, but youll find pros also prioritise survival over kill trades (unless the trade is obviously worth it like a support for a carry)

Arcanes is a good choice. But after going Tranq+Soul ring on Aba a bunch of times I dont think Im ever going back at least. Its slightly more expensive but when noticing the massive increase in spell spamming you can afford as well as having something which offsets the health loss of Mist coil I thought it was super worth it. And Aba is a spell spammer with 6+5 sec cooldown on the main spells compared to many other heroes' 8-14sec. You miss out on the team mana component and thats the only thing that ever would make me consider going back. And yes, I've seen the combo in pro games too so Im not totally alone at least.
At least try it. Maybe you wont like it as much as me but give it a shot.

If your team doesnt have a secure setup for a torrent with i.e. Shadow Demon, i like skilling 1131 which i saw in some chinese progames on a kunka mid. X marks the spot at lvl3 makes landing the combo torrent+boat alot easier at lvl6. Securing non-failboats is pretty helpfull when playing kunka.

Agreed, boats are helpfull, but its nice that you have a 99% secure and a safe way to do 700 solodamage at lvl6 when i skill 1131. The stuns are for safety + 400 boatdamage + 120 torrentdamage + 150 rightclickdamage (atleast 2 and maybe more). If there is a teamm8 in the area where you X the enemy, your pretty certain you kill that hero even if you are a scrub like me.
Why bother solo killing as kunkka when you can just farm your crit and kill entire teams in one shot?
My idea of kunkka is so warped since I always land as safelane farmer with freefarm that not going midas on him feels weird. I also treat my boats like my mirana arrows, that is "just fucking shoot it in the general direction, they will get hit regardless coz they seem to like it >.>" Letting your enemies get hit by your skillshots is a very important thing in dota, don't hold it back for too long.
After boat had its cooldown reduced, you can even use it to farm or defend a tower if you want. Don't be scared to use it if you have the mana to spare and wont need it soon, it's only 40 seconds cooldown at level 16.
A Clinkz got it in one of my games yesterday (Rocketbear is doing work spreading the Skadi love) and I thought 'well that's not gonna work with searing arrows what a retard lolol'
But ofc I turned out to be wrong. It does work with searing arrows, but only if you put it on autocast. WTF is the reasoning behind that ?!?

I thought (and personally use) that you only need 2 in X-Mark to land Torrent reliably? I never seem to have trouble using 2 anyway.
Clinkz has a unique mechanic with skadi. Wiki says: "Searing Arrows will stack with Eye of Skadi if it is Auto-Cast, but not if it is manually cast. The same goes for triggering Critical Strike. " Unique mechanics rarely has solid reasoning in Dota.
