About quelling blade, is it possible to retain %32 bonus with ranged troll by acquiring the item when in melee form? No. It may be possible to bug it into giving you the 32% on a given ranged attack by form switching since it automatically applies different effects to ranged and melee attacks. It isn't possible to permanently bug it or w/e. Show nested quote +On April 02 2014 23:48 Laserist wrote: Is deso is work with qb? (both bonuses applied?) Deso works with QB though. Can you provide a source for the bold part?

Me.
I'm too lazy to go digging through the dev boards (I never post there etc).

I found it : http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=59897
Dated back to 2012, in bug brainstorming section. It says it has been changed from pre-heal to some other thing can deny the damage but I couldn't find an "official" response yet. If it is intended, a very huge buff for Void from W3 Dota to Dota2.

Void has so many nerfs to him in the port that this isn't relevant.
Basically no pause = unhappy void

For the most part changes from triggered heal to damage avoidance are nerfs, not buffs. For example, moving from triggered heals to damage avoidance means there's no healing from multiple overlapping triggered heal effects.
Also, there's a strong argument for the War3 DotA behavior being unintended if you read that thread. Pretty much every other triggered heal in the game is dynamic to handle the "heal at full life" case.

I'm not familiar enough with war3 dota to know this. What exactly is this change?
|
Chronosphere (and certain other abilities like Disruption) use a "pause" state in WC3 that hasn't been implemented in dota 2. It pauses stuff like stuns so the duration doesn't tick down. Which makes disruption much WORSE in dota 1 since disruption your stunned teammated doesn't "remove" the stun, but makes Chrono much BETTER since you can just pound in stuns etc and they all perfectly chain onto the end of chrono (well, they chain with chrono not with other stuns so you have to be careful there).
So you were basically guaranteed a bash exactly coinciding with the end of chrono in WC3, for example.
TBH I'm not all that familiar with the pause state myself and how it interacts with DoT's etc, but thats how it works with stuns.
PS: I don't think cooldowns went down when u were paused. Not THAT relevant but kinda interesting.

Pause is pretty inconsistent in Warcraft 3 because of how functionally it was never meant to be used for actual game stuff and was intended for use in cinematics/etc.
Some buffs have their durations paused and effects muted. Some buffs have their durations paused but their effects continue (e.g. Salve continues to heal but does not tick down during Pause--was actually a small trick with OD to Astral yourself after applying a Salve but this doesn't exist in DotA 2). Some buffs have their effects muted and their durations continue to tick down. And some buffs aren't affected at all.
It's not really all that consistent, and I would expect some degree of change to the mechanic IS intended. It's just that as it is now, there are a lot of things that are significantly buffed/nerfed because of it.

From rtz's 20:20
When you teleport to a tower and someone hands you an empty bottle it refills instantly.
Is that actually a bug? Is it there in WC3?
It's presumably due to the fact that the fountain aura persists for a few seconds after leaving. I've never used it to refill a teammate's bottle (brb abusing), but I pretty frequently use the sticky aura to get free spells off after TP and so on. Never thought it was a problem.

Whether its a bug or not, they have no intention of fixing it. It's been known since TI1. I don't believe this was possible in wc3 dota, no. But then again I don't remember much from wc3 dota, I could be off.

i liked the dota1 bug where u got an empty bottle as alche stand next to the secret shop and spam bottle and for some reason u started to get gold from goblins greed lol

It's a known bug. Basically, Valve was lazy when they coded the Bottle refill check by using the fountain regen buff rather than actually checking fountain distance. Fountain regen being sticky upon TPing out is as expected, but Bottle refilling is not supposed to use the fountain regen buff.
The more common use is that you can generally have time to get an extra sip of your Bottle after TPing out.

I think it's just logical. If you soak yourself in the fountain you will have some of it dripping off your clothes. You can use this to refill your bottle for a while until you're dry. Having it any other way would just be confusing.

Ursa as Mid/Safelane - how do you feel about neglecting Vlads alltogether and just going for a Phase/Blink -> Linkens/BKB/Basher/whatever?

Vlad's is essentially a farming item. Not necessarily just for Roshan, but higher pushing speed, jungling, and especially ancient farming.
You judge the item based on how the game is going at your first 2k-ish gold. Blink is a powerful immediate timing for gankng/fighting, but you have to be able to keep a good tempo with one because of your sacrifice in farming power.

you can easily rosh without vlads just by having another hero tank a bit for you
|
You can rosh without vlads with 1 buddy and a full bottle for HP regen but I don't think you can do it with the earthshock max build which is the best mid build by a mile (bottle, earthshock max to push wave and control runes).

The Vlad's is only necessary for a solo Rosh, which may or may not make sense in a particular game (i.e. enemy having reliable vision-granting spells making it hard to sneak one in). For a Rosh involving multiple team members (e.g. after a won fight that the enemy can't contest), you do Rosh just fine off your abilities.

And if you put treebeard armour on Ursa? (i dunno if that works)
