Its entirely possible, yes. Ember makes for a decent mid. It could go either way tbh.

I would say storm has very weak killing power versus the standard flame-guard-max ember, but should be able to lasthit better due to being ranged. Also has better rune control pre-6.

Thats exactly why it could go either way. Storm is weak pre6, but he's ranged and capable of harassing and lasthitting without any problems with his abilities. Ember on the other hand has decent killing potential and both harass and defence with Flameguard. He can make it very difficult for storm to simply stay in the lane at all.

Ew..... how!? Storm can trade right clicks, easily zone out ember when he tries to last hit and what not.... I am puzzled.

Lvl1 remnant. Ember is honestly screwed in mid against storm most of the time. Exception being storm getting baited away from lane for a minute or 2 or getting smoked.

remnant wont do much vs flameguard. All it does is let you get lasthits, which is a point I've covered already.

Coincidentally, some experienced (and he is in 6k mmr) ember user was just telling me that Storm is the nightmare of ember. Storm owns him so hard on lane and in everything (thanks to storm's orchid).

The lane is basically won on level 1/2 because the lane is basically decided by how hard Storm suppresses Ember's bottle. But at those levels, Storm is strong because level 1 Remnant and level 1 Overload are relatively strong compared to level 1 Flame Guard (level 1 Guard only blocks 50 damage).

Really, most ranged vs melee bottle-crow matchups are decided this way. If the melee gets his bottle too easily, the ranged laner can't stop him. But if the ranged laner properly suppresses the melee laner's bottle, its hard for the melee depending on how long it takes for him to scrape together the necessary gold.

Incidentally, I feel this is where most disparities in "who wins lane" arguments comes. A lot of lanes are won and lost on level 1/2, and this is ESPECIALLY true for Bottle-Crow melees, where getting 1-2 more creeps at level 1 basically makes the difference between a stalemate lane and getting crushed horribly. How strong Flame Guard is doesn't even matter in this case, because by the time Flame Guard has 2-3 ranks, the lane was already won or lost based on whether or not you got your Bottle.

I play HoN mostly, I have the other MOBAs installed like Dota2 and LoL. I'm pretty sure OPs post is outdated so is there an updated version of the HoN vs. Dota2 comparisons?

If that doesn't get answered how about this one... what's the way to get my key bindings as close to HoN's as possible? the other key bindings are terrible compared to HoN's. no offense lol

Hon's Alt+QWEASD item binds work in Dota as well

This is pretty true.

I could see situations where Ember does really well at level 1 / 2, and then perhaps a situation where a storm oversteps his bounderies and ember punishes it with a solid searing chain and flameguard following, killing storm before 6.

But no, storm should win that lane if he's experienced and understand the matchup.

He could get ganked though.

You have same binds in DotA 2 as in HoN if not turning legacy binds on.

Imo HoN has better engine, i'm still sad that game doesn't have as much money as DotA 2 or LoL have.
Dunno, there are no problems in switching back and forth, my brother behind me is playing HoN on ~1900-2000 mmr and he has almost no problem with playing dota occassionally even if he has no idea sometimes about what heroes can do and same stuff with me.
Map is different a bit in both games, HoN still has 10 minute Kongor respawn (DotA has 8/11 minutes respawn timer on Roshan), creeps UI is less bugged in DotA than in HoN and there are more variety in heroes's abilities in HoN than in DotA imo.
That's basically all.
Ah, and rune is still one, not 2 in same time.

If Naga and PL are on the same team and both get radiance, do their illusion radiance damage stack?

No.

Radiance is an aura and behaves like other auras. Getting a single aura twice doesn't double the effect.

Alchemist is useless as solo support, he needs levels and at least some items to be useful.

Basically if you're solo supporting, you need absolutely altruistic hero like Kotl/Dazzle. Even guys like AA won't work as solo support, especially if you're going to be fucked early.

Lina works better than Lion in that case, because Lion has ridiculous manacosts as well as Rhasta, CM is ok, Vengeful Spirit is most altruistic hero in whole game imo.
If you're ok with role of sacrificial lamb support you can go Venomancer, even Jakiro(THD) works.

? do you even know how to play alche support
the whole reason why hes picked is because he is insane at lvl 1 with a huge range long duration decent damage stun. on top of that he has acid which not only increases his stun damage, but can be used to defend pushes by taking creep aggro off tower as well. he does his job as a support through only his skills, but then his added bonus is that he can actually clear jungles and ancients better than any other support and with the help of greed he can get items out quickly too. so now you have 2/3 cores plus a 4/5 position alche who has similar farm to one of your cores anyway. thats the beauty of a support alche. get a early boots and medallion on him and you have a roaming machine that blows people up with a max charged stun. sure he cant babysit your carry, but the kill potential he brings to your team early game is incredible
kotl isnt gonna do shit to support on his own because he is a naturally shit babysitter. aside from specific laning combos that can make use of his chakra, he cant do crap unless he wants to risk pushing the wave out while harrassing with illuminate. he also cant roam, which means he provides 0 support to other lanes.
lina needs a set up skill usually, and his shit attack animation makes him a bad babysitter against decent offlaners because he cant fight 1v1.

If you have position 4 and position 5 and Alchemist is one of them, it's already not solo support, do you know it?
There are a lot of situations in pubs, where you have farming jungle like Doom, farm-dependant offlane like Timbersaw, of course, #1 carry. I doubt, kitty, that you will be able to farm at least something with Alchemist, who needs at least pt/dagger to be relevant.
Else you will just buy wards whole game, have your pt and dagger at 30 minute + if there is a position which was hurt by Alchemist hp-removal nerf on ultimate - it's support position.

Solo support is absolutely altruistic, you need to understand it. Solo support is just signing pact of having boots on 30 minutes and being ok with it. And Alchemist just suck in this position.
And you don't know i guess, how hard can be pain in the ass if Lina got few early levels.
Ah, and also. You can absolutely negate effect of illuminate just by denying creeps, that's all.

if you only have 3.5k gold of items at 30 minutes on any support either you're losing really bad or you're doing something wrong
that's like 1 cs a minute

Keep in mind if you're solo supporting, at 30 minutes that's probably also around 6 sets of obs for 1.2k, and depending on the game, maybe another 6 sets of sentries for another 1.2k. Maybe throw in a couple smokes/dusts for some extra.

thats 900, and you rarely need 6 sets of sentries
you should be able to manage at least 250 gpm in most games

every game has a position 4/5, whether or not you like it. you can have a team of five carries, but someone is going to end up being the position 5. its just how farm distribution works in a game with limited resources.
and no, after the 6.78 (or 9 cant remember which) patch, which increased gold for all heroes, its not ok for a support be sitting on 30min boots only. if youre only capable of getting a boots at 30mins because you supported on your own, then that just shows how little you know about how to play the game. you make an argument for how lina can be hard to deal with if she gets some early levels, but then you say solo supports like alche cant get early lvls and so they suck. ????????????????????
