the list goes on. pretty much every support hero is good even on their own. the only supports i can think of that might be bad on their own might be like, sd if you dont have a team comp that can make use of disruption. its all about how you play the game though

I am gonna stick my neck out and give you some mediocre advice for mediocre mmr range. A different mmr range sometimes requires a different approach, I am developing this mediocre strategy lately with pretty good results 15w/7l. If in your mmr range you mostly encounter 2-1-2 or 1-1-1-2 tactics, people that never watched progames, bad communication, many micromistakes (feeding) and supports are considered to mostly babysit but not contest farm for the carry until level 6, try sjaman. Missionslog : Destroy every tower as fast as you possibly can and ward/dust etc in between TP's. This strategy feels effective in 90% of my mediocre mmr games. You can stall a game until 45 minutes in and give your team the time to farm up and die less as they are focussed down less and/or have more vision of the map. A TP-ing sjaman combined with his ultimate is just such a threat in the early/mid game, the enemy can never fully cash in on there gained/given advantages early. Its one of the most impactfull spells on any support or pushhero. If they try to teamfight, just push any other lane, if they dont retreat they get a bad trade (tier 2 for a tier 1 as sjaman is allways ahead on towers). So, if they dont defend, dont feel bad that you are playing solo because they just got a bad trade. Never forget that you dont control your teamm8's dying from stupidity, only from vision. Skillbuild : 3/1/1/1 into 4/4/1/2 Core items early : Coerier, stick, wards, naked boots and ofcourse tp scrolls after lvl 6 (mainly movement items) Core items aim : Wand, Urn, TP scrolls, TP boots, wards, dust for carries if needed (mainly consumeables, survivalbility and regen items) Core extension : Aghs septer (need escape go blinkdagger first) Rules of the thumb : 1.If your ultimate is (almost) up which it will be about 80% of the time and the enemy is not bashing a tier 3 tower, it feels more effective to siege another tower/lane then to help in a teamfight. If your ultimate is down or you just planted your wards near there tower you could help teamfight (this counts for me in mediocre mmr, its all about judging what is most effective on the current situation). 2. Never use wards to defend a tier 1 or tier 2 tower. 3. Dont die pre lvl 6, after that it doesnt really matter. Sjamans deaths are less impactfull on the outcome of a game anyway as he doesnt really need loads of farm or experience, just lvl 6 and TP boots eventually is enough. 4. Watch the minimap alot, mapawareness is good for not dying and knowing where your TP could initiate the most impact on the outcome of the game. 5. Dont be influenced by morons that keep pinging the minimap for you TP back and help in a teamfight. Asces the situation, make your own descision, never forget that a sjaman mostly dies in a teamfight. The results so far are "not remarkable KDAratio's" and alot of positive gameimpact, but it doesnt really matters that you died a couple of times when you mostly solokilled all 6 six towers and are threathening to go highground somewhere. In my experience its feels like a good ratstratcounter too. Pushing a lane doesnt give you shit except wasted time if you dont kill the tower, thats why sjaman is pretty effective and hes online earlier then most other rats. Only time this tactic didnt feel applicable was against a fast moving linkens carrier like weaver. You cant flee and the linkens basically counter every sjaman spell. That was a hard game for me, a blinkdagger could maybe help so i could blink between trees and tp out, but i havent had the opportunity to test blinkdagger against a weaverlike hero. Comming back to the impactfullness part, as a support without almost any early farm, its hard to be impactfull without coordination and/or teameffort etcetc. Low/mediocre mmr doesnt even comes close to higher mmr game, its just a slightly different game. Next to that most mediocre mmr carries are such ineffective farmers, you could contest his farm just a little bit and he probably would not even notice it. And because of that, your team is falling behind in gold if you dont contest just a little bit sometimes. So i would advice to contest farm a little bit if your carry seems to have problems lasthitting, which should be just enough to make sjaman's TP strategy more effective early, so that the carry has all the time in the world to freefarm after your lvl6. Im not stating this will be an effective strat in 5k mmr or similar, but until now for me in my mediocre mmr range, this seems to work. Most mediocre carries only want a flying coerier, vision and time to farm up in a static mediocre game, ya? If there are people that have also nice strategies for sjaman that gave them a high winrate in mediocre mmr, enlighten me please. But the above feels potent strategy for me and i keepdeveloping this one further, if playing support is all about having the most effective gameimpact without loads of farm, sieging towers after lvl 6 doesnt feel like a bad idea.Pitchfork me please ![]()

Basically if you're solo supporting, you need absolutely altruistic hero like Kotl/Dazzle. Even guys like AA won't work as solo support, especially if you're going to be fucked early. Lina works better than Lion in that case, because Lion has ridiculous manacosts as well as Rhasta, CM is ok, Vengeful Spirit is most altruistic hero in whole game imo. If you're ok with role of sacrificial lamb support you can go Venomancer, even Jakiro(THD) works. On March 15 2014 21:34 Firebolt145 wrote: Hotkey hero + familiars to 1, hotkey familiars to 2. Just start to micro your familiars more and more as single units the more you get used to them, dont rush it. I tried to micro them separately all the time like i did for sc2 units, but tbh i failed miserably until i just played them as wc3 units. Nowadays i am fairly successful (on my high high mmr) with visage. I have also seen a lot of pros play visage that way and just finetune their micro with single ctrl-groups. 70-90% of the time it's all the three in one control group.

He is one of the most impactful supports when it comes to team fights as all of his spells are AOE, puts out good damage, and it is normally pretty easy to hit at least a 3 man stun in a 5v5 situation. In addition to this, he is relatively tanky when compared to other supports so it isn't as likely that someone like a weaver or BH is going to come and 2 shot you before you can get any spells off. Depending on who you are laning against he is also pretty strong with zoning out the offlaner. Dual breath even at level 1 does some pretty good damage and his mana pool is so large that you can cast it 3-4 times at level 1-2 before you really need to regenerate mana. A lot of people just turn around and run when you hit the DB so you can get 1-2 auto attacks in as well due to the slow. I normally level him 1/1/1 to start, then max out dual breath, get ice path level 2, and from there it depends on how the game is going. If there are a lot of team fights grab macropyre and continue leveling icepath, if there is a lot of split pushing level up liquid fire for tower kills. In the late game he is also amazing at clearing creep waves so you can shut down pushes pretty quickly.

But using 2 for just familiars is not that much harder and actually allows you to micro the familiars separately from the hero. 90% of the time I still control my heroes + familiars together, but that 10% of the time allows me to finely micro my hero in the back while my familiars are elsewhere.
