i have been in some pubs recently.
and the bountyhunters all went for battlefury.

is there a reason for it? since i have in mind i read it here on TL that BF isnt a useful item for BH.
other stuff like deso, etc seems more valid to me, or am i wrong?
Ooooh, look at it go

The reason is that Battlefury is in Valve's list of recommended items for BH. Battlefury is a farming item, meant for clearing junglecamps/lanes quicker, so to kill more NPC things quicker. Bounty Hunter is meant to kill heroes, not creeps.

Usually Bounty Hunters aim for few early game items such as medallion, urn or drums to increase their chasing and killing potential in early to midgame. Bigger items for BH include desolator, orchid, MKB, vlads and maybe basher. In general Bounty Hunters want to maximize their solo-killing potential, so single target damage (to get most out of Jinada procs) and disables are most commonly seen items for BH.

Juggernaut suffers the same problem. Battlefury is a recommended item, but there's no subtext attached that explains what the item does for you and what you should be doing with it once it's done. It just has a comfortable buildup and offers you seemingly useful stats, so players will buy the ring of health (again, recommended) for the regen in lane (YAAY REGEN!) and continue to build the battlefury from it because it makes just enough sense to not seem like a bad idea.

In truth, it isn't a unanimously terrible idea, but it very often isn't the optimal choice given what you're likely to do on heroes such as Juggernaut and Bounty Hunter.

BF is situationally good on both heroes, it's just that for most people who are actually reading a guide to choose their items, it's not the right choice because the situations where BF is the right choice are much less common than those where fighting items are better.

What is a 'pure key'? I've seen a bunch of traders asking for it, but I've no idea what it is or how it's diffirent from regular keys.

Pure key means they don't want other items, just keys.

How does staking magic damage amplification works?

Say, Veil + decrepify + Natural order, how much more magic damage is this?

75 + 25 + 26 + 50 = 176% damage?

or

75 * 2,01 = 150,75%?

And how does this stack with magic damage reduction?

Thanks

considering a tiny that has level 16 and treads and no other damage/as boosting items (no aghs), do you get more damage output by putting your treads on AGI?

yes slightly against a non-moving target
but it's not worth it, the difference is minor and str gives you 150 hp

Hey guys. When do you usually sell bottle? Should I prioritize bottle over poor man's shield?

I usually like to give the bottle to one of my poor supports.

And I usually give it when I get my 5th major item (boots + 4 + tp is my inventory).

Natural Order (lvl4) is actually 33% spell amplification, Veil is 25% and Decrepify is now 50%

Say a nuke deals 100 damage. If the target is under all of those, the nuke deals 100*1.33*1.25*1.5=249 damage.

If the target is a hero, it has 25% magic resistance. Therefore the nuke deals 249*0.75=187 damage

So I still have no idea how to play, from what I've heard the matchmaking is pretty terrible and unbalanced, but for me I don't think that makes a difference. I'm still having trouble last hitting, not feeding, and everything, but I don't know who to choose and what lane to go, the basics of trilaning, or any strategies in dota. As a beginner, what's a good lane to start out with, what role is good to start out with, what are the basic heroes, item builds, and other things I should know about? I read all the beginner guides, like welcome to dota you suck, the transition guide from league to dota, and nothing's helping or answering where I should go, what to buy, etc.

So I still have no idea how to play, from what I've heard the matchmaking is pretty terrible and unbalanced, but for me I don't think that makes a difference. - #1 mentality for learning right here, and i've never really had an issue with matchmaking.

I'm still having trouble last hitting - Do the Shadowfiend lasthit challenge, go into a custom game by yourself, pick shadowfiend, get no starting items and don't level any skills. By 10 minutes you should aim for 80 last hits and 80 denies. (pretty sure technically 80/80 is the max). Since heroes have vastly different autoattack animations, you should do the challenge with most heroes you try.

not feeding - #1 priority, When I just started out at dota-type games, I told myself to look at the minimap every 10 seconds, if a hero that has kill threat on you is missing, play more defensive(dragon knight early game, bloodseeker at level 6, pretty much any hero with a stun or strong slow are strong kill threats). Getting a timer in your head helps you track improvement and helps keep you motivated because of it.The reason not dying is important is because all the gold you spend lasthitting is worthless if you die cause you'll just lose it anyway. A key item is the wards, wards are your legal maphacks, if you just started out then no one else will buy them so their all yours. Another key way to stay alive is knowing your hero's solo fight potential. If your support crystal maiden and you see a level 7~ tiny, run or you're 100% dead if he gets close. Key item #2 are runes, runes are usually free kills (haste, invis, double damage are all really powerful ganking tools). Be really careful if you think their supports got a rune and is missing from your vision.

but I don't know who to choose and what lane to go - There are 5 "positions" in dota. 1 is your hard carry (farm 40 mins get rampage win game) and 5 is your hard support (get your team that fat $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ safe). At the start, pretty much all random shit works, so just play what you find fun.

the basics of trilaning, or any strategies in dota. - Trilaning with bad players is 99% of the time a verrrrrrrrrrrrry bad idea. Your strategy is 2-1-2 aka 2 heroes top, 1 mid, 2 bottom.

As a beginner, what's a good lane to start out with, - Whatever you find fun is the best lane to start with, but if you can get a friend to play with you, then laning with them sometimes can make the game more fun.

what role is good to start out with - FUN YO. Really though, looking at the QQ thread, dota can be a really frustrating game, and learning is a hard experience. Your fundamental skills will carry over from role to role and are always going to be useful. A good example of this is are most pro players, I know a few Chinese pro carry players started out as offlaners, and using their skills of finding farm anywhere, became excellent at playing carries.

what are the basic heroes, item builds, and other things I should know about? - there is a 60 second guide to every hero on TL somewhere. Read those and bam, build right there. BUT, dota is an unpredictable game. You should NEVER blindly build an item just because a guide says so, always have a reason to spend your gold and understand WHY your spending it. The TL community is great at this. Some basic items are

WARDS- shits op, 150 gold for legal maphax? yes please. Especially in the mid lane where you can place it so it can spot the runes at night so you don't have to waste time walking and checking for a chance to get one.

COURIER - this little guy brings your items for you, he's your best bro and works tirelessly for your team. Give him wings to make his life easier.

MAGIC STICK - ggwp great item more or less all the time, I would link you to a post bumblebee made about how great this item is when I asked about why it was good, but I can't find it so I'll leave this to someone else to explain more in depth.

TELEPORT SCROLL - your legal teleportation hax, this item is great. pushed too far and someone ganked you and wasted all their stuns at the start? teleport. Someone is killing your team at bottom tower? teleport into triple kill. Bored irl? teleport to computer to play some dota. Literally one of best items in any game ever.

BOOTS OF SPEED - ok this is more of an anti buy, a simple rule is that you should never get boots first, always other items at the start. If you're mid, you should probably get bottle after your starting items. Support? WARDS(boots are actually ok here if you are a ganking kinda guy, but prioritize WARDS). But boots are NEVER the item you buy at the start.

PS. I'm shit at dota too (50 games played~) so some of this might be wrong. If you want someone to play with, my steam name is: LazyFailKid. GL HF and always carry a TP

Have you played every heroe once? Tried every item once? It's hard to not feed or do something well if you don't know those basics. Last hitting will come naturally. Forget immediately about trilaning if you don't know those basics, besides trilaning might be dead very soon. I think you could even forget supporting as your mates will surely miss tons of last hits so just take last hits to see what your heroe can do with gold. There is no basic heroes, basic build is boots, magic stick and TP scroll.

you might be seeing it because supports camp rune spots and ward more important vision paths (high ground near mid t1 for example).
