how is dmg calculated?
For instance, If i have 55+8 dmg, when i mouse over it will say something like (50 - 60) + 8 Does this mean your damage is random anywhere from 50 to 60? and if so, when is the +8 calculated? is it always tacked on after the dmg roll?
I hit jug with an arrow for (random number 50 to 60) 51 dmg +8 for a total of 59 dmg? or I hit jug with an arrow for (random number 50 to 69) 51 dmg.
and i assume the + dmg modifier is applied before defensive resists come into play?
Sorry if this is confusing, my english isnt amazing.

The variance is always the same, all game. if it shows 50-60, it's 10 variance always. And +dmg is pre all resists.

when do you go for a Maelstorm/Mjollnir?
in general, what are the pros/cons for going Maelstorm? it feels like such a wonky item to get. Not that good for flash farming, feels as if there are much better unique attack modifiers (lifesteal, deso, even skadi...)
it just feels as if there are always better alternatives

Sorry if this is confusing, my english isnt amazing. The damage is random from 50-60, correct. Any further damage you buy will be exact. For 3example, if you buy a monkey king bar, you will have 50-60 +88. That's the same as 138-148. Damage is also reduced by armor, which would take a bit longer to fully explain.

it just feels as if there are always better alternatives The big thing you forgot is that maelstrom/mjollnir actually stacks with unique attack modifiers on attacks that no lightning procs. So you ca have mjollnir + skadi, mjollnir lifesteal etc. The pros for lightning hammer: - highest AS in a single item - does magic damage(good for high armor enemies) - has a "shield" you can place on allies or yourself - works really well with heroes that already attack fast
cons: - need to be able to attack a lot in fights. - good attack speed needed to make most of maelstrom(with mjolnir no problem)
It's a good item. When I just tried it out, it was better than I at first though. Assault cuirass is the main alternative to make something with a hyperstone, which is much more defensive. Get a mjolnir if you don't need more armor or if you need more attackspeed lategame while your inventory is almost full. When you buy it, you must tap out and start this video. It's mandatory.

it just feels as if there are always better alternatives actually its a very good item for flash farming. just not as good as radiance or bfury. if you have enough aspd to proc a lot of lightnings it is a pretty good item. i love it on furion actually, helps you splitpush like a mad man and also lets you do reasonable damage in fights.

I've been getting Eul's after bottle on Elder Titan skipping boots (mid obv), it's a great set-up for your stomp and earth splitter plus it allows you to spam your spirit. Opinions?

skipping boots entirely or sticking with brown boots? I don't play any TC but im guessing its better to get arcane boots so you're relevant much earlier in the game.

No boots, he has 315 base MS and gets additional MS with how his spirit works. Eul's gives 35 MS as well so I feel boots aren't really needed until you're in need of tier 2 boots. Basically ET has 2 delayed impact spells with Echo Stomp having 1.4 seconds channel time and Split Earth taking 3 seconds to deal it's damage. You need some from of initiation to get your combo off and Eul's gives just that bit of time to get off your Stomp and subsequent Earth Splitter, which is almost a freekill vs most mids at 6 which is why I rush it. The mana also improves your farm by being able to use your spirit and stomp more liberally.
Really liking Elder Titan as a hero since he's so different from most heroes, so much optimization to be had with his spirit stacking camps and maximizing the amount of creeps it hits. Also refresher Earth Splitter is the coolest thing in the game
Btw, I've been maxing spirit and stomp, but the stomp only scales in duration. Would it be better to leave Stomp at 2 to get your combo off and increasing it's damage by maxing Natural Order? Also, if I'm correct, the Spirit only deals magic damage when it stomps whereas ET deals physical damage of it's own? So the optimal way of initiating would be to be in Stomp range with your hero itself after your spirit has just returned from max duration (so you get bonus right click) and having it available again after the Earth Splitter connects?
PS. do Dragon Knight illusions have splash and corrossive/ frost? (that is functional I mean).
PS 2. does AC AS aura work on illusions? If so, does it stack with drum and other endurance aura's?

refresher ET actually sounds pretty badass

Is there a way to stop the game from forcing in-game binds (stored wherever, pretty sure it's not just config.cfg) over ones that I have specified in autoexec.cfg?
|
Euls first on ET actually sounds pretty legit. What kind of tier 2 boots would you go, threads or phase?

Eul's only sets up *SOLO* combos for you. If you are buying an item to set up solo combos, you are not playing the hero to his strengths. He's not a solo-kill hero to begin with, he's a teamfight monster. Having a Eul's makes no difference in terms of setting up the multi-person Stomp-Splitter combos you need in teamfights. And spending 2.7k on a more or less selfish item and not team items like Arcanes/Mek/Drums is simply the wrong approach to the hero.
With regard to skill order, you generally need Stomp maxed as a set-up skill for teammates and for counter-pushing (sleeping all creeps and heroes in a push for 5 seconds delays a push for a REALLY long time).

Does a cyclone banish remove the subject's aura for the duration?
I don't really agree with your reasoning, although Eul's is more of a selfish item than Mek or arcanes, it is much better in forcing teamfights to happen in the first place and guaranteeing your combo to hit something (hitting your combo also sets up teammates' combo). As anti-push, dealing more damage to the creep wave seems just as good as stalling it. I think he should leave Mek and Arcanes to other players favoring initiation items.

Treads, with Eul's and his spirit bonus MS he's already faster than almost every other hero, plus cyclone gives him initiation range. He needs AS to maximize the bonus DMG he gets from the spirit.

Initiation? Eul's has 700 cast range.
You're more likely to get a successful initiation just using a max range Spirit->Stomp because 1200 cast range is beyond Smoke break/night time vision anyway, while you'd have to walk directly into 700 range in order to Eul's someone.
Honestly, you don't want to force yourself to take fights off one-person stomps a lot of the time anyway. Fishing for a good Stomp is almost zero risk because of the low CD and insane cast range.
Creeps have 0 magic resistance to begin with, Natural Order doesn't make you deal more damage to the creep wave.

Creeps are affected by the amplification.

it just feels as if there are always better alternatives Mataza covered it pretty well. It can be a good item on heroes who want attack speed, are able to guarantee a lot of right clicks during fights, and also benefit from the slight buff to farming speed. Faceless Void's a pretty good example because you want attack speed to proc more bashes, you have an ultimate which lets you freely attack someone for it's duration, and you don't farm particularly fast. It's also really good on Sniper because it lets you proc headshot more often.
It can also be good on other heroes when you want to push lanes out faster (either dealing with split push or pushing yourself).
Also worth noting the lightning stacks with other unique attack modifiers.
