Well he does, especially MUFC like to play him a lot. However you have to build a team around that guy, since he's not very versatile, mainly offer very little to a trilane ( compare to powerful nuke like pl or alch ), no built-in flash farming ability so either maelstrom or BF, very reliant on ultimate etc ...

Those are all nice skills lategame, yet early to midgame he only really has his Chronosphere that he can rely on. He needs a lot of farm to destroy lategame yet he's not an innately good farmer and without chronosphere there's really nothing he can do in a teamfight. In the current competetive metagame carries with midgame impact are preferred.
I think esports is pretty nice.

If I'm playing puck vs batrider, how should I approach the matchup? Do I just have to play super conservative the whole time? I tried dodging napalms with phase but it seems really hard to do.

play aggressive
dont miss lasthits, dont waste orb, save phase to dodge flamebreak and autoattacks
hit him whenever you can without messing up the creep equilibrium
if he gets low you can dive and kill pretty easily

It's to do with the number of targets around them, right? They don't ever cast abilities if you're solo jungling (thank goodness), but if you pull or have a chen troll that summons too many skeletons, they seem to.

What's the actual metric? And is it still random or do they cast them asap if there's enough units?

Asap if there are enough units, pretty sure it is 3 in their range for everything (ursa/centaur/satyr) but for satyrs they will blast if there are 2 close together and the 3rd is way off to the side somewhere. Trolls will sometimes not spawn their little bros for some reason, if anyone has insight into why they do that that would be cool to know. I think those are the only ones that cast spells on you... but they still have to use their cast points ^^

Does anybody know exactly why/when he spawns the little zombies? Can make a huge difference. To me it seems like if he's standing still makes a difference and also whether or not he has to change targets.

That's actually a very good question. All I know from my understanding is that they're bugged (e.g. Enigma conversions shouldn't leave a corpse that can be turned into skeletons), but I still have no clue why exactly they sometimes spawn skeles and sometimes they don't. T_T

Just jump in and start playing. I personally recommend staying away from anyone that has the title of "support" or "hard carry", stick to strength heroes that have "semi carry" or "initiator" or "tank" title in my opinion for your first few games as you learn the ropes.

If you completely don't know anything, I recommend just playing a bot game (co-op) and just getting familiar with everything. This is a good way to find others to train, lots of people que into co-op vs a full bot team just to practice new heroes or if they are new.

Just play a bunch of heroes, stay away from the ultra difficult ones (Invoker, Chen, Meepo, Enchant, etc) and just have fun with the rest. Find 2-3 you REALLY enjoy, and then buckle down to practice with them. Once you learn a hero, its time to learn the surroundings, item timings, strategies, lanes, the game. Step by step. If you feel you're getting too stomped, play co-op bots.

*Using =(default key) brings up the dashboard, ignore flamers. Focus on your game, you'll play better and it's more enjoyable.
* Watch pro streams: You can get a grasp of how stuff should mesh out in high-level play, plus how it looks. You can compare it to your individual. Note: Item builds/some skill builds are exempt to elite level play. Just because some pros are doing it and having fun, I can assure you it will be very hard to recreate owning if you mimic it. E.g. Merlini buys Boots of Travel a lot, something I would almost never recommend.
* Watch LIVE games inside the client. You can change perspectives all around and focus on what you want to focus.

In most cases, starting with the recommended items is fine. They aren't optimal, but they are good enough when you are just starting out. You could also look up guides (there are a few here on TL, or else you could go to playdota - however some of their builds are quite old and for dota 1 (which is the same game almost but with different pictures etc, so some stuff may be a little unfamiliar)). You can also just ask questions here on TL :D

There is also this guide to answer a few beginning questions.
The only barrier to truth is the presumption that you already have it. It's through our pane (pain) we window (win though).

Sure it's not just the ability's cooldown? I don't recall ever seeing him not zombify at least one of his buddies.

Almost certain, again haven't really tested this but I'm pretty damn sure there have been times I've been jungling Enigma or Furion and killed off the little ones only to not have my extra free CS spawn ^^

They play the night before The International starts, in Seattle.

quick 2 questions:

1. Can i bind attack to something like shift+mouse2 or only button+klick?

2. Is the matchmaking gonna get better soon in terms of skill? The first matchmakings are just horrible, basically 5v3 or 3v5 all day for me

waaiiitaminute.

Call me slow, but were backswing animations removed in Dota 2? I remember Crystal Maiden's obscene wand waving ceremony after she cast a spell in DotA... and Dota 2 wiki still lists animation backswings... but they don't actually exist in game at those values. What is this?

U should be able to bind keys via console like in cs, but not sure
as for matchmaking its going to be a long time before we see improvement imo. Valve just has other priorities atm

Level makes no difference for matchmaking rating (I assume). The only "point" of levels I've found so far is that when you level up, you get an item. That seems to be about it.

(And yes there is a matchmaking system that puts you against people roughly of your skill level)

No and level is related to how many games you've played. It has no basis in skill.

Any backswing higher than 1 is reduced to 1 in DotA 2.

There's pretty much no point in having backswings longer than that, because any player who actually knows what animation canceling is could not possibly fail to cancel a 1s backswing.
