Rave was a surprise performance. They have been mostly even with MVP throughout KDL but MVP has usually edged them out. When the casters mentioned they felt Rave would do better because their playstyle felt more complete made me realize how much I underestimated them.

It will be interesting to see both teams and Eye of the Tiger's trajectory heading into TI5.

3-1 day 1 into 5-10 final result is hardly inspiring even if they did manage to win tiebreaks vs TF and CDEC.

Still a surprisingly good performance overall.

Well to be fair who really expected this team to actually beat just even the T2 chinese teams .. but they manage to qualify at least top 12 on the hardest competition for their standards that's kinda impressive.

I swear they were gonna do a something similar to arrow gaming TI4.

Top 8 now. Probably the 2nd biggest surprise showing in the whole tournament.

good performance by them today, especially nb. to be fair tho, HR chocked really hard for no reason from like minute 2 and Rave played with a lot of confidence. don't see them beating iG, but $100k+ is pretty big and they already exceeded everyone's expectations i think.

Rave’s win over HellRaisers secures at least P5.1 million and a guaranteed Top 8 finish. They made history by having the highest net income total as Filipino gamers. Previous record owners were PVP Superfriends and their P2M winnings in the World of Tanks World Finals.

Where did Chrissy and Cast came from? And can we have more players like that from the Philippines? I knew how good ninjaboogie was, but I was pretty down at the quality of the Mineski roster and other Pinoy players.

After seeing their games starting from the tiebreakers, I could safely say the team's TI5 invite caliber.

I'm very impressed by Rave's performance in DAC and look forward to seeing them compete in future tournaments. Unless they become like Newbee.

I don't think that they can become like Newbee because they didn't win anything yet. Newbee became way too relaxed after they've won TI4 and obviously didn't practice much for DAC, while Rave seem to improve every day.

I work in government and that was probably the idea of the staff. Bam Aquino is an OK guy, whose track is similar to Ninoy's - youth and university support and legislation, with an anti-corruption background. Since gaming is the new drug for the youth, he has to be able to understand it and maybe help parents and youth deal with the issues it brings in a balanced way. Remember, local legislation is VERY strict on gaming, and this has actually driven more children away from school than towards it. My wife's cousin is in danger of falling out of the top private university because he has a "serious" Dota stack, and I can see that the family is doing all it can, to no avail. There has to be a balance somewhere between gaming passion and education. Bam will need to understand that if he's to connect with the youth of today.

TL DR: It's not his idea, but it's within his field of interest, so plus points for everyone.

welp, thanks for clearing that out.
that point is currently getting some progress as we speak, if it proceeds well enough then it'd be safe to say the government is working on it and i can very well say that the eSports management side(or something you could call that in the PH) is working hard on it as well.

all we can hope for is a bright future for all :D

I am very happy for Rave for their results in DAC.
I watched them all throughout last year in KDL and they have definitely improved leaps and bounds.
In a way, their run at DAC reminded me of MVP's run at TI4 Qualifiers.
It's always nice to see a hard working team improve and get rewarded.
Best of wishes to them moving forward!

FWIW,

I like the tribute to iceiceice and fear respectively though.

i hope our pinoy heroes doesnt burn themselves out before ti5 =/

they are gonna participate in THREE major lans as far as i know

The Summit, MLG and Major All-Stars. Travelling can be very, very exhausting. You wouldnt have time to practice strats and would resort to using staple strats

For a team this young they need all the LAN experience they can get before TI. If Valve sticks to the 'every team will be on the main stage' then having experience in front of crowds could be the difference for the team.

I really hope these guys do well. They're a fun team to watch.

Pinoy-flavored flash (esp Chrissy, goddamn he's so good) with Korean-style discipline makes me hope one day for a Pinoy TI champion.

fucking love Chrissy mate .. his storm and his ember so fucking good

fun fact about him is that he is the wisp player on the team lol so he switches into support when needed

although we should not be too optimistic about TI winning run so that we don't get disappointed .. that's very hard when the best western teams and crazy chinese teams exist.

aside from twinmaster being right about them being bad

they don't have a specific playstyle but they are similar to c9/ig(kind of) where the midplayer carries the shit out of the team most of the time

since the DAC performance rave has been overrated so much. yes they are very good against sea teams and the other teams on other region. but when against those high profile teams. i think rave might win against them but they are still not on the same level.
fans expect very much on rave. it may pressure them to show much but lately rave is underperforming.
on the contrary I am not saying that rave is a low tier team. i just think that you over rate them so much.

Rave have [reportedly] kicked Ninjaboogie and Jeyo.

Nope, Jeyo and Ninjaboogie wanted to go back to their respective home countries. (Canada and USA) . They are probably homesick as hell, and it might be easier to qualify from NA for future tournaments with EG being directly invited. For all the hype around Col, they have yet to prove that they can play decently vs international teams.

Who knows, we may see an old Team Fire reunion (minus Hannah Montana who has reportedly retired for good) for upcoming majors.
Envy fan since NTH.
