There are things that can be argued about like how much support the people that do that kind of work should receive but don't, but not that it exists. It's a given that someone will have to do that kind of traumatizing work. It's not too far off from the police working on CP cases and such. | ||

The human cost of this moderation is just to high. Companies like Facebook and Youtube are slowly proving that there is no way to moderate and control the services they created while allowing anyone to upload anything. They have created systems that give everyone access to everyone else on these sites, world wide and opened the floodgates to everyone. Including other governments. This isn't sustainable long term. At some point the hammer will drop and force governments to act and reign in these companies. Which isn't a bad thing. Youtube started in 2005 and only became the wild thing we know it as today in post 2010. The internet of pre-2010 was still pretty good, IMO. | ||

Weird how the political groups who have benefited most the toxic hellscape of Facebook pushed back against moderation of any sort. The narrative of conservatives being oppressed by the media and tech companies is, in fact, a tactic to assure they are featured prominently and their most toxic rhetoric is never moderated. Fox News, Breitbart and other conservative outlets dominate Facebook. | ||
