Man I'm honestly super tempted too but there's just no justification for going from a 1060 to a 1080 without both upgrading my display setup AND upgrading my RAM from 8 to 16.
Which I might do. I'll probably post my specs here tonight and see if anyone has a recommendation, but off the top of my head I have an i5 7500, and a 1060 3GB (whoops) with 8 GB RAM.
I'd argue that everything I said to poulsen regarding upgrading his setup applies to yours as well. 4 core 4 threads and an outdated gpu makes a good argument for going all our nothing on the upgrading decision.
All depending on your target game, resolution, framerate and graphics quality needs
I like to think my system isn't THAT outdated though, maybe I'm wrong? I built it around May of 2017 and it's treated me well to be honest. Although I don't think I've really played many games that required this rig. That's more due to me being a cheap bastard and not buying games I couldn't typically run on my old laptop, and then just having a backlog of games that don't require much in the way of processing power though. The longest singular time commitment I've used on this rig that needed it might've been my 55h playthrough of Tales of Berseria, but I'm not sure. It definitely ran my Hyperdimension Neptunia games really well though!

Whatever makes the Oscar voting cabal feel better about themselves for opposing racism with milquetoast films containing the blandest messages about racial harmony. At least it wasn't Bohemian Rhapsody.
The untouchables is a great movie. Because its about a group of ethnically diverse people (Irish, norwegian, scottish) all bonding over their common hatred of Italians.

I didn't shit on your rig but could have been more clear as to the framework of my assessment. It applies to playing AAA games on vhigh settings with 60 fps on fhd for about two years. Tales of Berzerkia, a purrfect date or chrono trigger will run just fine on your Composition :-)

Ah fair. Yeaaah I'm pretty alright with slowly having to shift down my settings with time as more and more involved things come out - if only because I don't earn money right now and don't have a post-grad job lined up. We'll see though, I'll probably come back in a couple years and get some advice then. Potato graphics are fine for the most part to be honest.
Although that attitude might change now that I actually have a rig. Grew up with laptops without GPUs so I used to have a good stomach for potato graphics, but that'll certainly change as I can, and will, just play better-looking games. Or the same games, just with better settings.
Also you remember that Chrono Trigger emulator + ROM I sent you? If you've played it, does it have weird glitches with save states or is it just me?
ALSO also: I'm not gonna play A Purrfect Date without streaming it so I can get chat to provide moral support.

Also, I finally watched Jagten (Or, "The Hunt") this weekend and damn that made me feel real bad. There's something about Mads Mikkelsen in a danish movie that I just don't feel when he's in an english-speaking role in a foreign movie.

If it's an open secret in Hollywood to the point where it's casually dropped in conversations, joked about on national television, or people are warned to not work for the people centered around it, it's probably true.
Yeah, I mean, innocent until proven guilty and all that but we've seen a lot of evidence that these "open secrets" turn out to be true. Weinstein, Cosby, and Louis C.K. were all well known for their behavior in the circles they inhabited.

Yeah that's true, but I feel like this story is more a convergence of several things. Even if FB was more or less benevolent instead this story would still exist. It's a massive collision between the basics of capitalism and user generated content.
And that market forces make things like hate, racism, child abuse and violence a source of profit for people willing to peddle them.
It is why I have become increasingly suspicious of companies like Valve and their response to clear racism or white supremacy on their service. It would be easy for them to permanently limit folks who post racist bullshit on developer forums. They could do it across all of steam if they wanted. A simple "You seem to like posting about Nazi shit, so no more posting for you. You can still play games, but we might limit that too if you are not careful."
But they don't. And part of me things they know it will cost them money and don't think it is worth it.
