The idea is basically everyone puts $20 and a post-it with their name in a hat (well, two hats). We draw literally all the names out of the hat, first person drawn gets $100, last person gets the rest. But some of the senior folks put (large amounts of) money in, and don't put their names in, so the game is +EV for everyone else. This year I think about ~250 people entered and there was $2,000 of "juice" from senior folks. When there were around 10 people left I realized I was still in it and started trying to sell rights to my name for some amount of money. I think I turned down an offer for $500. At 5 people left I was still in it and decided I did want to sell, but the best offer I had was $600 which is well under the $1,400 it was worth. I should have just shouted out an offer from like $1k but didn't, I was negotiating with this one person, and mid-negotation my name was drawn at #5 ![]()

I love all of those myself too I'm also very fond of the pipe shaped liquorice, they tend to be a tad sweeter but also exist in salty forms. The best liquorice i've had has come from finland though but i don't remember the name, it was a gift from a finnish friend ![]() https://www.fleggaard.dk/pi/Dracula-Bolcher-Classic-225-g_1243186_40484.aspx These are also super fucking good if you haven't tried them

I've had some others in Helsinki that stood out, like Apteekin salmiaki and Tervaleijona. Haven't tried Dracula Bolcher so I'll check for them next time!
