I think its literally been like 20 games since I've played not-CM
And I remember that game. The Lina was a smurf and played incredibly well, but got mad at our AM for a few mistakes and kinda made team atmosphere pretty tense.

Its either that or theres no difference and normal queue and role queue get fed into the same pool. Both sound kinda bad.

Either there are fewer people than normal queueing for normal matchmaking, which raises volatility of said matchmaking, or both types of matchmaking feed into the same pool, which means queueing for normal matchmaking when I'm going to position 4 / 5 every game just means there's a chance I get queued with someone who has already locked those positions.

About the role queue, it's weird in dota. Because in dota even roles are very blurry. It used to be simple. There was a mid, a carry and 2 supports, sometimes a jungler. Now especially mid and carry roles are more or less indistinguishable. So I dunno how you could solve it. I guess maybe I would prefer if they just gave us 2 choices: support and core. The matchmaker would then put 2 supports and 3 cores into a game and let them figure it out from there. But there would still be the problem of a split matchmaking queue that we have now. Funnily enough, role matchmaking would've made sense when dota 2 was new, but if they did that, dota would likely regress into lol's static lanes, so thank god that hasn't happened.

Yeah support/core makes sense rather than specific roles. Yeah we should also be glad they didn't put it but on the downside matchmaking might be a bit weird since most i know wanted to play core(i have no statistical backing but most i know who plays dota prefers playing core heroes)

Now they are kind of like an objective, they have similar value in gold to a tier 1 at 20 min in, with 4 of them spawning. Probably wanting to go the route of adding more points of contention and less focus on being on one spot every 2 min with 1 hero for marginal gains.
Combined with boosting stacking I assume they want either 2-1-2 or 3-1-1 now with full time roamers being stackers more than gankers...
Should help a bit for supports late game if you have map control. If you get all of them at 30 min that is 520 gold per person. Which is 2 minutes of gold for a pos 5.
