Crysis wasn't 'badly optimized' per se, just the higher end of the settings were so demanding. Not to mention it was released in 2007 and at that time threading wasn't such a focus as it is now so it's not really a good benchmark for modern setups.

The level designers for Crysis said that the original game was super inefficient too. They trees and other foliage were super over designed, complex models that didn’t result in any substantive visual improvement. Games have come a long way and raw power has given way to art design and efficient use of resources. The new God of War and games like BotW show that.

Of course not. The discussion was about personal conduct and the linked example is more extreme than any I can recall doing myself. I would likely have muted him for that conduct if it occurred in my game (I would give him and any pro more slack than normal pub players).

He takes the game much more serious than I do, which is likely why behaviours differ so much as well. I get upset at some losses but wouldn't say I have ever gotten seriously mad about them. That is a downside if you want to have the drive to improve. I miss last hits when playing carry and I am annoyed at myself for 1 minute or something, I don't instantly start up a lobby or last hit trainer to work on it after the game.

I think GTA V is still one of the big benchmarking games nowadays

they also use the new Hitman game because it’s demanding on both the CPU and GPU

I wish that there was a new gamemode called MORPH MODE, it'd be sorta like ability draft except you just pick 2 heroes and they combine into one new one. Like if you picked Broodmother + Beastmaster you'd get some burly, 20-eyed and 8 armed abomination that threw egg sacs instead of axes and they dropped eggs along their path and if they hit you spiders crawled all over you
