he ended up designing a card game thing for kongregate so he got his wish in terms of strategy over tech skill
and he has decent credentials in fighting games he's not totally full of shit or anything
of course most people see tech skill as a huge component of games and not something that's necessarily worth removing. I mean the only clip a lot of people have seen of a traditional fighter is that crazy sequence of parrys by daigo to take evo 2004 and melee is fun to watch in large part because of tech skill
but there is still a place for strategy he's definitely not in a different universe or something

yeah actually reading that Zileas post is pretty frustrating
on the one hand it feels like he'd rather the draft not exist at all so that teams only lose on the basis of their play (which by his definition doesn't include drafting).
on the other hand he wants to promote different comps, which emphasizes how important the draft is even to him.
the logic about not having picks/bans interwoven is definitely particularly frustrating
also the entire post is funny to me because as far as I know most Dota fans respect and appreciate a captain's ability to draft well. PPD's draft analysis has been received pretty well, for example. And while I'm not sure that similar content exists in League, I know people still talk about teams getting outdrafted. Drafting is fundamental to the genre.
