A lot of media attention was given to the case and like all Media coverage of law, they got it wrong and it sucked.
In the end it's people with more money than I will ever see fighting. It never really mattered if she won, it's not a appeal and won't create law. The law suite wasn't frivolous, since it survived a motion to dismiss.

i don't think she could settle
like her case was so obviously frivolous that it was probably cheaper for them to blow her the fuck out in court

but tech companies can definitely tend towards a weird nerdy frat vibe. And beer o clock on friday has been standard at the last 3 companies I've worked at and at the past 2 a beer in the late afternoon/evening is pretty common. Current company even has some nice whiskey that someone bought and expensed lol
