Plansix United States60190 Posts April 23 2015 15:48 GMT #28863 Everyone had their own favorite World of Darkness “setting”. I swear we had one for every system, from Werewolf to Mage. I was the Changling guy, especially after they released updated world with the Lost. The first edition settings were fun and I lot of my friends liked them better, but the systems were TRASH. Combat was a chore with all those dice roles. It was way better in second edition when it was all boiled down to one role by the attacker. So much faster. Edit: World of Darkness was basically all the people who wanted a game not focused on combat and crawling through dungeons. It was fresh and new in the 90s, but sort of played out now. Still a big part of my young RPG days.

And then you had that one idiot who insisted he should be special snowflake #12635 and be the last survivor of a dead clan or some shit. Tried to play with someone who tried to make a white howler character, twice. Thank god the game master stopped him both times.

dismiss United Kingdom3341 Posts April 23 2015 15:58 GMT #28874 Realistically the biggest problem with Vampire is that you're so heavily incentivised to be a murder hobo, even more so if you're not playing Masquerade. Most of the other systems are kinda meh because WW pushed Vampire so heavily, don't know much about nWoD though. I don't ge the hate for doing unusual stuff though, you're playing an RPG to have fun, so why not go crazy sometimes and play a character who's a bit strange. It's much more annoying if you have a party full of xXAlucardXx brooding, lonely warriors who punch everything in the face with two handed swords or katanas.

They are immortal and have super powers. What is there to fight about except petty shit? Or some magically bullshit that item or something. Thats why I liked Changling the Lost. At least in that game the True Fae and all their shit were something to be scared of. Also the Lost were very mortal with reasonable powers.
