They receive no where near the same amount of subs/donations as waga. And the stream viewer numbers really aren't that much higher on average. Usually once waga is on for a few hours he has like 5-10k right? Anyway waga has a sub counter on the top right everyday and I always see it at like 20-40+. He just started today and it's already 1 sub, lol.
Not to mention the constant stream of donation messages coming in. He's definitely making more than most pros/casters doing this.
idk man you'll see rtz/dendi/sing like close to 30k viewers sometimes and that's with many other streamers streaming sometimes even with waga and adb on the field

i think it's pretty pointless either way to compare dota 2 twitch culture to the rest of the site it's only been a recent thing where people have started accepting donations and thanking people for subs. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not because there's always been some kind of weird stigma against 'selling out' in dota, but monetizing viewers with donations is kind of a grey area for me
I think its fine. Its like street performers or bands when they accept donations after a live set. Twitch is more like live performance that it is a regular show and people are just learning how cash in on that.
it's not like street performers at all tho. superficially it is, but there's not as much pandering and that's where I have a problem with it half the time someone donates it's so that they have a bit of e-fame or gain a bit of cred with the streamer him/herself. idk i feel like there's such a disconnect between donating and actually empathize with/appreciate the streamer with what he/she is trying to do.
on another note, I'm not sure why disingenuous ingratiating shit like this is such a turnoff to me when I work in finance maybe I chose the wrong field or smth

I mean I know some people that have like 3000-4000 games played and are still 2k or low 3k MMR. I know a Meepo player with thousands of games played who's barely 3k (sorry Pholon)
