Moving away from AI research to software development in a small company with a focus of applying AI where it is suitable within that company. Said company did not do any AI stuff up until now. So it's a little more practical.
The research thing didn't work out for me personally. Time limited contracts and the fact that most of the stuff I did ended up being scrapped (not really scrapped, but it never reached a state where I am happy with before the next project comes up) wasn't really motivating me anymore.
Also I didn't really pursue the PhD line in two years, so there wasn't a reason to stay any longer.

Yeah I see, these limited contracts are a bane of public research.

I'm still not utilising AI and have no clue how to approach it, it's on the agenda for 2024 but I'm not holding my breath for actually getting around to it.

Yo. So I played a bit of Dota and now they have Harkon's blade (Revenant's Brooch) in it? HoN trash unite.
Also Primal Beasts ulti is pretty much Pandamoniums ulti.
And Techies now have a similar bomb to Bombardier.
And the new Beast master is actually insane. The birds are so strong...

Yeah but now that I've moved down under I'm only playing once in a while and always solo. I've deskilled a lot, just a legend pleb now.

I only play unranked party games with friends these days, and I tend to take a lot of long breaks. My current break is by far the longest at 8 months because The International didn't really inspire me to play this year (probably due to the meta and no battle pass). I'm probably about to get the Dota itch again soon
