it's weird that they never patch chess right? like baseball and american football for sure get patches, I feel like maybe soccer does too (?). I guess maybe like tennis doesn't get patched much except for improvements in equipment and refereeing capabilities. Anyway they should patch chess.

Well, at least here in Germany they included a video assistant for the referee to check "special" situations directly on the field.
Does that count as "changing soccer rules"?

tbf most recent football rule changes are to decrease chances of braindamage, and im rather sure the need for this just doesnt exist in chess

easy to say this in retrospect (and it woulda been cool to be wrong) but i feel like I + everyone I knew was like "yea come on google's gonna kill it in a few years" when stadia came out lol.

fwiw I've been reading stadia comments on the internet and there are at least *some* stadia defenders who either didn't have input lag problems or think they didn't matter. I can't really wrap my head around that just because like, it's gonna add *some* lag and i feel like that is gonna be pretty noticeable to me. but maybe i am just wrong, or maybe folks are just really different.

like i saw someone being like "it was great for playing destiny" and that just does not compute for me! you need to shoot guys!!

re: input lag, I don't really know the tech behind online games but couldn't they kind of set it up like online ARPGs?
I suppose there is no native support for that stuff build into the games but these also more or less run on a server, don't they?

true sight fascinates me. how incredibly good pro gamers are is hard to fathom for a pleb like me just watching.
Having had the pro player co-commenting and analysing really brough a LOT of new insights for me last year.

Playing any reflex oriented game with even 0.2 seconds of input lag is way too frustrating for me. Seems like it would be fine for turn based games but those don't tend to have the system reqs that would require you to rent a computer from Google.

it’s main use for playing destiny was to matchmake against a way smaller player pool in the pvp competitive modes. Basically the destiny equivalent of queuing for single draft on South Africa servers at 2am
