When do TI tickets go on sale, I'd rather not miss it when it's finally in Europe again
From the Ghastly Eyrie I can see to the ends of the world, and from this vantage point I declare with utter certainty that this one is in the bag!

Considering the situation, we might not have TI this year at all.

It's still half a year in the future and they've already discovered that some of the medicine we already have may work on the corona virus.
A solution is not far off, give it a few weeks and it's done, that's my bet.

Any recommendation of Neal Stephenson works ?

"Cryptonomicon" is a pretty good boook by Neal Stephenson

I’ve only read “reamde” and I’d say it was quite enjoyable. Might have to check out Cryptomomicon.

I’m gonna start Mistborn this week hopefully. Actually doing a Wheel of Time reread right now, which I’m almost done with. I know people have mixed opinions but it’s my favourite series of all time.

Btw Mistborn is his first trilogy so while the entire thing is worth it. It is also his worst quality series considrering how much improvement Stormlight Archives and his Wheel of Time takeover looked

Has anyone here read anything by China Mieville? He has some really fun blended sci-fi/fantasy novels.

Thinking about starting up the roguelike stream again today

Yeah I love mieville. His new crobuzon are by far his best though, and he hasn't touched them in years.

I've reread WoT more times than I'd like to admit. Most of the critiques of it are valid but it's still near and dear to my heart.

As others have said, mistborn is an excellent series overall but also one of Sanderson's first and as such much less polished and prone to some foibles that he's improved upon in due course.

For Neal Stephenson, I can also recommend seveneves if you enjoy near-future sci-fi.

For me it's partly because I got into WoT in elementary school so some of it might be nostalgia. Although nostalgia aside some of the most epic moments I've ever read without a doubt have been in WoT, specifically in the first six books. Dumai's wells still gives me chills. The Aiel flashback in book four is also just insanely well written.

TBH WoT is probably the best reread I've ever done. It almost feels like Jordan writes with that in mind, because there's so many little things you can almost only pick up on a reread (like Rand channeling throughout the first book).

I'll put some more Stephenson stuff on my list, although I'm gonna finish with the Sanderson stuff first.

edit: speaking of WoT have any of the WoT fans here been following the development of the tv show? Cast has mostly been announced at this point and they have been filming. Kind of insane that they got Rosamund Pike to play Moraine.

Been waiting for the WoT tv series adaptation. I like the cast selection mostly

WoT should not be that hard to adapt at the first book. Tho i am curious how they will handle Rand's descend to madness and the dreamscapes of the cast

edit: Not gonna lie WoT is kinda my favorite fantasy longseries (more than i like Malazan and Codex Alera)

Idk I don't think the descent into madness is a huge issue. I'm more worried about how they will portray the magic system. It's fairly easy to show the results of channeling, but idk how they will show the actual act of channeling (threading/weaving/etc). There are entire chapters in the book revolved around just visualizing this process.

Also yea I agree, tel'aran'rhiod will be tricky.

I hate "following" stuff like that too closely since it just burns out my anticipation, but when it actually comes out I'll be super excited

I try not to follow too closely, but I check the progress out every few months. I had no expectations at first although so many good developments have happened (the showrunner is an actual long time fan, Sanderson has helped out, cast is alright) so I'm actually kind of anticipating it now. Probably going to be a letdown but who cares.

Sno's way seems wise as the wiseones(heh no really)

Ah that is a bigger problem indeed (channeling is weird and required alot of CG but i was thinking more about the "deadman voice" that whispers alot of Rand mid conversation

The author helping out (even just the takeover author) is really big for tv adaptations

Personally feel like an animated version of WoT would have been better to portray the magic.

Funnily I got a Diabotical beta key. Anyone interested?
(I fully admit in shame that I installed epic launcher and already played for a bit with a key from another person)
