I mean i train every day and try to eat healthy, but today I'm having pizza because life is this too. From your post i think you are trying to hard to fit into something you don't want? Find stuff you like, the only reason i can train every single fucking day it's because i have a lot of fun doing crossfit because i meet new people and all that. Just don't go too far, it's a marathon not a sprint.

I think what really made the difference is not just trying to do self-improvement activities alone but to try to get involved in a community. I always had trouble sticking to any sort of solo exercise, but i'v been able to stick to Jiu-Jitsu in part because I've made friends who have been encouraging. I found that Iv been able to stick to volunteer work when I started tutoring English to refugees, because once your involved in a community of people you like, it makes it a lot easier to stick to whatever your trying to force yourself to do. It's harder to give in to the urge to quit when it's not just about you. Getting involved in a local sports league might be something to try? I hope this helps man.

That feel when you spend all day at sea and then get back to land and you feel off because you had gotten comfortable with the boat rocking, and now being on firm ground just feels weird

It doesn't actually help in the longrun which is also a risk for burnout.(based on personal experience) Rather an incremental betterment of lifestyle works better. And what faruko said. Life isn't all about healthy, strict lifestyle. Go grab a pizza or something nice for yourself from time to time. Remember if you slip up it is ok. Don't be too harsh on yourself.

I'm not trying to become some super-disciplined athlete, I just want to do something healthy at all, because as it is right now I get no exercise and my diet is rather garbage and I've been steadily gaining 2-3kg a year for the last 5 years or so. Might not seem like much but I used to be a skinny bastard in my uni days (75kg at 183cm tall) and I don't feel good about my growing belly. Would be nice to replace some of the fat with muscles. The fact that I've failed at changing things up so many times doesn't help. I'll try changing things one at a time and see where it gets me.

Pretty wild actually then. It depends a lot on the type of boat/hull. The ones that just have a perpetual slow side to side roll do it the worst you feel like you’re drunk when you get back on land.
