It's kind of a mess of a game, but it's a lot of fun. I didn't max everything, or even close, but I did a fair amount. I had like 180 hours on the save file, but prob 60 of those are from merc missions where I was afk. I got all but one of the random blades, and since there are some ng+ exclusive ones decided to just roll for it there. I have no idea why they changed the name of like, every character from japanese to English. The English names are much deeper in meaning, which gives a different sort of impression. I can understand the occasional name change when it would sound super weird to westerners, but most of these were clearly not done for that reason. (Example, a character is named Hikari in japanese, which means just... light. In English, they are named Mythra, which is the zoroastrian god of light). Some of them are related, others are... not. Byakko/Dromarch? One means a white tiger (which the character is), the other is a typo for Dormarch, which is a welsh hound (apparently). This doesn't bother me like it does some others, but I'd love to have heard what the localization meetings for the game sounded like. Trying to decide if I want to do Xenoblade X , NG+, or the expansion campaign for XB2 now

Trying to decide if I want to do Xenoblade X , NG+, or the expansion campaign for XB2 now I'm curious what your final setups were? I'll share mine in spoilers for somewhat-obvious reasons ![]() + Show Spoiler + I played with : Nia as my controlled character, running Electra, Dromarch, and Kos-Mos / Azami. Rex as my secondary, with Mythra/Pyra, Agate, and Gorg Morag as my third, with Floren, Adenine, and Zenobia. My strategy for most of the game was Electra/Dromarch/Azami giving me -very- clear control on Nia's health, which meant I could stack up orbs and drop to low% hp before a chain attack, which would allow Azami to do pretty absurd damage to basically anything. Lategame / for superbosses I had Kos-Mos, who does less damage overall but is certainly sturdier than Azami. I got gold chips off some large but unimpressive level 60 creatures (Zeoth Sepronds) and actually did all the endgame content using them on most of my blades (6/10 had gold chips equipped) 8/10 game overall though. Some of the super heavyhanded imagery in the last few chapters is intriguing and I wanted it to be more/deeper, but overall it was pretty satisfying. Adenine was my favourite blade overall!

I am, especially since I've just so discovered that I'll be mostly free on the weekend of the finals and that I won't have to stay up until 3am like last year to watch it.

Been playing The Way and I have to say that the joy-cons analog sticks are horribly inaccurate for the aiming of the game.

Adenine was my favourite blade overall! + Show Spoiler + Adenine was my last blade. Opened literally 95 legendary cores to get her. Also didn't have newt. It depends on what I was trying to do. For farming it was like this : Rex: mythra, pandoria, roc . Let's you do a full topple launch smash combo on him. Nia: nim, kos-mos, varying third. Crosette, Shiba, Tora : obvious what his blades were. Treasure sensors and Dark, fire, ice cores. End game: Rex:mythra, pandoria, elma Nia: same as before but definitely crosette Morag : Aegeaon, theory, Corbin The best blades are Fiora, elma, corvin, poppi qtpie. They can outdo the aegis in damage and survivability. Fiora is challenge mode or ng+ only though. I farmed gold chips on vampire bride Marion, then like 75-85 on reeking Douglas, then the level 99 cow in torigoth. People say Nia is the weakest driver, but I can't resist using her. She's also not so much weaker that it really matters outside of the hardest mode in challenges. (Zeke has 12 less ether, is way tankier, and has better animations)

Why Morag/Zenobia? Zenobia is definetely Rex, between Mythra and the stupid amount of damage Zenobia can do you'll destroy mostly everything

Zenobia is definetely Rex, between Mythra and the stupid amount of damage Zenobia can do you'll destroy mostly everything If you aren't maining Rex there's no real need to put Zenobia on him as he won't be your topple/launch combo. Late game tanks are pretty useless (their aggro skills dont scale very well so they have to use damage to hold it)so most people build Morag for damage. To use her as a tank vs super bosses or challenge mode you have to main her and stick with Corvin (or brighid if no dlc) and two +24% agi common blades that you never switch to. But like, even the worst blades on their worst driver can stomp most super bosses on normal if they are maxed out with good chips and accessories. It isn't a very hard game. Personally, I'm more shocked at azumi somehow out damaging kosmos. She was doing more DMG in chains than pnuema was for me on specials level 2 and 3.

Zenobia is definetely Rex, between Mythra and the stupid amount of damage Zenobia can do you'll destroy mostly everything + Show Spoiler + Wanted Agate, don't want double earth on Morag, so normally had Zenobia on Rex, but swapped zenobia / agate across rex and morag to make orbs easier to get. Lategame Azami's damage fell off when 1hp setups are less reliable, but between her passive bonus damage for all blades if their driver is low hp, plus all of her specials being +280% or whatever on low hp, she'd do 5-8 million damage to Leonine Sadie by herself over 3+ specials at level 70-80ish. I was trying to do low hp setups against cow, but couldn't reliably get Rex to stay alive, AND have azami low hp. But yeah my strats from level 35ish onward were Azami 1hp-centric, because I hit a 2million chain around there, which was -far- beyond any other damage I was doing at that point. Also Nin is the only (random) blade I did not get. File was 110 or so hours.

Btw. there's a free audiobook of Moby Dick with lots of different narrators available here. It's a very tough read, I found, but maybe I'll read it once more after going through Typee and either Waverly or Wuthering Heights. Will definitely download the audiobook though - it's also on soundcloud, apple music thing and spotify and there's a webpage dedicated to it by the organiser.
