I'm almost pissed off that's he gone, fuck man. I think it's ok to be pissed off. It's just a reminder how unfair things can be, but it's also a reminder that life is good and we should enjoy it while we can. I was just thinking about how Geoff is only a year older than my brother and it really put me in a weird mood.

It's also eerie knowing him and TB were both the same age when they passed.

Made the small corrections, just gonna do another readthrough of the problematic sections again this week and let the supervisor read it. Really happy, but still haven't felt the weight lift off my shoulders yet. I wonder when I'll realize something: that I'm free. Also the company will sponsor additional grad school. Maybe I can con some poor supervisor into taking a part-time PhD student, but I think I'm too burned out from school right now to do a good job with it. Maybe in a few years' time or if my manager requests me to get better trained. Congratssss!

I've started to read Typee by Herman Melville. So far, I'm starting chapter 3, it is a fluid read, indeed rather easily approachable compared to Moby Dick, whose beginning was incredibly dull (and complex to read, for as a foreigner with a moderate mastery of the English language I've struggled a lot with the naval terminology applied by Melville).

Honestly, Scar was the true hero of the lion king, he wanted to overthrow Mufasa to give the land to all animals, but he was brutally murdered by the son of the king who wanted to perpetuate his father fascist legacy. i have no symphaty for Simba tbh lmao why wouldn't they go with the obvious, easy to hate, narrative that he just wanted to be king and fucked up the balance? was it still a good watch? ?/10

there's an obvious lack of "posibilities" when going to cgi (like rafiki) but most of them are great. a solid 8.5
