The bestest football game on the SNES was called international superstar soccer deluxe.
Which made me think that soccer = English for Fußball. Learned the hard way on the internet that this wasn't the case.

I got to first ascendancy in 3h 16 mins in PoE because I was bored and frustrated. I thought it was pretty fast, then I looked at actual speedrunner times, and they do it in under an hourish.

Ofc I did all the sidequests and stuff but sub 1h still seems pretty insane.

There's prob like 15-20 mins of variance for your casual me, but map layouts and stuff are at least somewhat fixed, so if you know where you're headed to you know how to find it. It's not like you sometimes accidentally an entire extra map or anything, would just be a cumulation of "this map exit was 6 seconds closer / further away".

Its kinda neat that Labyrinth is a "fresh seed" every day for speedrunning though, because it means that there are actually good / bad days for runs that incorporate ascendancy.

You mean like running the 4 labs to achieve full ascendancy in under 1h? Easily possible if you are a little lucky with layouts and high enough level.

The current league is simple and fun, it's a good moment to start. There's a ton of strong builds too so it shouldn't be hard to find a good starter.

It can be if you want, but for causal play you can just follow a guide and do just fine. It's not like WoW where you need to run simulations in order to see if a piece of gear is a 2% dps increase.

If you want to get into PoE get a lootfilter and install Path of Building asap. Then you can load a build into Path of Building and just follow the skill tree and import your own build to compare how well you're doing.
Legion mechanic is nice and simple. Don't worry about getting best gear in slot, just see how far you can get and you'll learn much more about the game than curbstomping your way to high-level endgame content. Because that content will hit you like a wall regardless of your build.

Yeah PoE takes a little work (have to follow guide & use loot filter), but you can ignore most of the complexity if you want and just have a fun Action RPG romp.
