Iv been trying to get healthcare insurance for months but it's reaaaaally difficult to buy plans outside of the Obamacare "marketplace" window from November to December. So I'm basically fucked if I actually get seriously injured or ill

How do you even dare to do fighting sports with no insurance? I'd be terrified every time I go to practice Albeit I've not been hurt while climbing for two years or so because I take good care of my skin and have learned to factor in my level of exhaustion rather accurately, this doesn't really apply to sparring as I'm not the only variable in the equation.

I'm having a lot of fun just drilling techniques and practicing so I'm not too upset about it.

You have to apply for an exemption but it's been easy in the two states I've lived in (you go to the Obamacare marketplace and fill out an application and they ask "have you lost insurance in the past x days" or switched jobs etc.). You have to do it within a certain amount of time (I think 90 or 180 days? it depends on the state). Yeah in my state it's 60 days and I got bad advice from a Kaiser Permanente rep so I missed the window... I might literally have to concoct a "life event" to get insured

Never listen to anyone in the US health insurance industry for advice about health insurance unless they're in medicaid/medicare.
