This is a good read on how the esports industry might be in the midst of a big correction. Basically, the numbers that get thrown around are probably inflated, and most teams don't make money.

Also Liquid is #1 on HLTV's ranking and reached 1000 points lol. Kind of extreme to me but I don't know their model.

Yeah I think the lack of a strong third party influence on tournaments is probably gonna have a huge impact on esports going into the future. If big companies decide to stop running a league, that entire esports layer to the game might just evaporate overnight.

One thing I didn't think about is that the millions sponsors pour into the system is pretty small to be part of a growing industry since I didn't think about how much some of these sponsors are actually worth.

I really wouldn't worry about it at all unless you're literally on the outskirts, and even then it's rare for them to touch down there (and if it does it's gonna be mega weak anyway. might take some trees down and smash a few windows with debris). We get them in the summer here in Saskatchewan too and 99.9% of the time it's in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks Emu! They had a particularly bad one last year, but it was also a "particularly bad one" so hands tied. I mean, people manage to live all over the world with freak weather conditions and still be fine. I think the place I'm living is pretty far from the tornado zones.

Tornados cause a lot of damage but it is pretty narrow and there is generally some forewarning. It isn't life threatening so much as really annoying as long as you listen to weather alerts.

I sorta got the job from that interview. They want me to work as a temp for a couple months before hiring full time. I'm fine with it as anywhere else I went would've been contract to hire I think.

Lol I actually haven't finished the last games I was playing at the start of last semester (ao no kiseki and amayui Meister). Ran out of time to translate. So I'll finish those at some point I guess.

Also, I'll probably have to buy a ps4 for sen no kiseki 3/4 when they come out in English. And persona 5 : the hedgehog or whatever insane crossover milking they try next.
