1: No map awareness to notice pudge is probably going fishing. 2: No wards to spot where pudge is hiding. 3: More importantly, no juking. I made several successful hooks into the fog because they just kept walking in a straight line..

But firstly. I don't know how to post in reddit/r/dota2trade and secondly I'd really want a "easy" way to get it, because I'm lazy. So anyone here willing to trade 3 of those "keys" for a Dota 2 invite? Please give me a PM If you'd like to help a Starcrafter get into Dota 2
If you have bought your three keys from the dota2 store, then you can try posting in the TL Item Trading thread offering them for a dota2 invite. It's essentially the same as reddit trading actually.
That's sad . It's the same way I got into gaming. I was a fairly good basketball player and I had a bad injury at my wrist that didn't allow me to shoot anymore. From there on I stopped playing basketball and got into e-sport. I didn't get fat though...

The thing is, most pub AM will get a really late battlefury and keep farming because all their items will be delayed. So you just group up and go as 5 and hope that the AM is retarded enough to ingore his team. Easy win.

This. Doing a game yesterday the other team had a solo am that got crushed by dirge/kotl so bad that he ended up with a 40 min battlefury. Dieing in teamfights with no items didn't help him either.
Most pubbies will try to do something they saw a pro do and fail at it, myself included. The real challenge of that is figuring out what you have to cut to stay effective after you dont farm so well.
I've played a lot of Dota and Heroes of Newerth over the years but I only got a beta key about 2 months ago and having played ~90 games or something, I have to say the standard of game is very disappointing and I haven't solo queued for the last 50 or so games.
In a 20 game period i went about 15-5 in wins/losses. These games were incredibly frustrating due to the exceedingly low standard of the games. People who farm woods while your base is getting pushed is an example or people that push the enemy base on their own without teleport???? Obviously this kind of thing is going to be common in people who are new to the game.
However even after this 15-5 spree the standard of game just didn't change at all so i gave up on solo queuing and just started playing with people i know. The problem is the people i know are a lot less experienced than myself so although it's not frustrating playing with them, the games are still of a really low standard.
I observed one of those games that has loads of spectators, and although it's hard to gauge from just watching, I think I would be fine in those games in my more preferred utility/support role. Profiling all the people in the games, every single one had over 400 wins and I currently have about 50.
I am capable of winning a high % of games if i solo queue but it's just not enjoyable at all, no offense but i find it very frustrating to play with beginners and I know i'm not improving at the game at all due to the different tactics required. e.g. in the level of games i get, you can kill people with rupture because they still move with it on and don't carry teleport scrolls. e.g. in the games i get people go lothars edge on every single hero
I'm not saying the matchmaking is awful, my first 10 or so games i went 3-7 because i hadn't played for a while and i had severe FPS lag problems that I've now fixed. I also play with someone that leaves a lot. So get quite a few losses from that.
My question is can I get to a much higher tier of matchmaking without having to play 600 games? because I don't think i can stomach playing that many games at a low level or is the solution to just find people who are your standard and only search with them?
You can (easily) inflate your MMR by playing with very high MMR people
My smurf is no longer a smurf because of that after ~100 games, I used it to play with mid to high mmr and we ended up improving to a higher mmr in ~100 games.

dont expect to start in the highest mmr....90% of the games at very high mmr are actually really really good....its just getting out of elo hell, like in every other game too (LoL, HoN) and sometimes you are just stuck for a while....go to the "watch" tab, then "recent games" now type in your nickname, and then select normal skill, high, very high etc. then you can actually see where you are at...

Of course you can. If a pro starts a new account he won't be playing with noobs after 50 games, but, as you said, it's not like you started dominating every game. I doubt your MMR didn't change after a 15-5 spree though, but that doesn't mean you will jump to a very high skill bracket just because of that. The whole watching higher level games and thinking you deserve to be there can often be misleading, it's hard to judge yourself. Even by looking at your own replays you can suddenly realize how many stupid mistakes you make. In the end, if you are really playing at a much lower level than you should be, it shouldn't take that long to move up.
