IRC chatter should remain in IRC - http://webchat.quakenet.org/?channels=tl.dota2

Posts that relate to topics with their own thread, such as in News, Tournaments or Strategy should go in those threads.

I would also filter by well known pro names, there are many terrible players in the Very High range that people should not learn from :<

I think watching pro replays is better for players who are already pretty good. You get no commentary, so you have to be good enough to realize why they are doing what they are doing, and if they are even playing seriously, Sing_sing has said that his builds on ladder is "crap". Purges videos are nice in the sense that he explains everything he does. He's not a pro player, but he's good enough that he's definitely worth copying for people in normal.

Yeah, watching Purge's stream or videos are probably one of the first ways I'd recommend to new players.

If you are willing to pay a bit of money, buying tournament tickets for the replays is a very helpful way to learn. In my experience, most players in the very high skill bracket do not take pub games seriously at all, so watching those replays may not necessarily be that helpful.

Translation: 99% of high level players do their best sing sing impersonation. I will never forget the razor that went vlads...

But yea, pro-game replays much better. Some items are situational, but in general a suboptimal build will still be good, and at a level where you don't know a better build it won't really matter .
The only barrier to truth is the presumption that you already have it. It's through our pane (pain) we window (win though).

A fantastic way to filter for useful replays is this link here:
http://www.dota2wiki.com/wiki/User:Redefining_history/Steam

It links a huge amount of current active pros stats.dota2 profiles which will let you stalk their games. I collected a list of replays for heros I wanted to learn like QoP (CLG.Pajkatt 20052673) and Spectre (IG.Ferrari430 Spectre 27433799), Its kinda like SC2 replay sites in a way.

18 couriers doesn't seem like a big investment (unless the enemy team sees it). Huh. Funny strat. ^^

I think creeps should just go around through the middle, at least in dota1 they would I'm pretty sure. Pathfinding bug C:

In Dota 1 tournaments, permanent creep blocking, such as by using earthshaker's fissure, was either explicitly banned or considered to be very bad mannered. I am not sure about Dota 2, but I am sure it is similar.

Not always:

Creep Blocking
Creep blocking permanently is not allowed but creep slowing/delay or luring is allowed. It is not allowed to block creeps with the help of spells, such as fissure, sprout etc. it is only allowed to use the hero model to intercept with creeps (accidental blocks are okay, as long as the fissure, for example was directed at an opposing hero).

From: http://prodota2.com/rules.html

I don't think most tournaments do this though, I was surprised to see it in the Pro Dota ruleset when I was checking for something else.

Rumors flying around saying that the league of legends season 3 will have 25 million prize pool overall.

To clarify. The prize pool is smaller than 25 million, although the full Riot Support (including technological upgrades, paying for flights and accomodation and salaries to teams) will likely reach 25 million or more.
