Valve want the ultimate tournament, and the ultimate tournament involves everybody playing everybody to ensure the fairest possible ranking. Although I will say that in the case of this enormous round robin you could probably justify a single-elim bracket coming out of it  | ||

edit: Contract legally ends August 15th, so I'm eligible for German unemployment for a year (+ I have a year's savings) and I can use the office to watch Dota 2 on the big screen! A silver lining is all this, hurrah | ||
