The sickening part is that pub finally realized anchor smash is the best spell of tide in early game, bad support with you means the hardlane tide will get farm (and hurt your farm with anchor). | ||

You dont need more than 2 points in anchor to get farm reliably in the offlane. Its far better to max kraken and skip the stout since it also lets you get your spells off more reliably. | ||

You only need 1 level of kraken to 'get your spells off more reliably', 600dmg at lvl1 to 450dmg in lvl4 is a no brainer, a 250gold stoutshield is a much better deal so that you can take more early gush/anchor levels. just sell the shield whenever you are around lvl11, which is like around or later than 15mins into the game; take kraken earlier if you needed that item slot, if you are not too fat your function is literally just to get the ult off and anchor the core heroes. | ||

There is a pretty big difference between kraken and stout; anchor is -60% at level one anyway. The 2 levels in anchor allow you to get uncontested last hits in lane because no one has ~100 base damage. I would rather get an urn to tank up than waste gold on a stout. | ||

I dont think we are conflicting on the anchor smash part; and if you are not buying stoutshield at the very beginning then dont buy it then, i didnt suggest to get one when you are like lvl3/4 on lane after boots etc. I am simply emphasizing on the timing where you can have 3-0-2 or 2-0-3 with stoutshield you can do some nice ganking or own the lane harder before lvl7 since the damage from gush/anchor are preferably to be used in early game. Imagine one maxes anchor using 1-2-4-1, then you might as well get a stoutshield and go 3-0-4-1, way more aggressive and utilizing that early nuke from gush. Otherwise 1-4-1-1 for some very tanky tide build but if you cant make use of that tankiness in early (you need some form of nuke or dps to help to kill which is hard to come by in early game) then you get wasted opportunity for not leveling gush/anchor. Urn/mek are not related in this context because when you get focused down you just die (in early), when your team is ahead then you are harder to be killed either way.
