And they tend to talk about item decisions and other stuff that other casters often completly ignore.... lol, if you've fooled yourself into believing (what many seem to believe) that there's any deep analysis in that cast then I'm sorry, but you're wrong. Their analysis is quite basic. I'm not saying they don't know the game, but when you put those 3 people together all they do is talk about basic shit.
And item decisions is the most common analysis there is. It's also the least interesting analysis there is especially when casters don't seem to grasp why players get items.
The worst part is how often casters seem to think that unusual item build orders are intended. Like the dreamleague cast harping on midas's when gotten at weird times, even though it's quite obvious that the players didn't originally plan to get midas in those games but the game state changed their mind.

I'm getting SC2 flashbacks now

The SC2 flashbacks I get are casters saying "I think he's gonna call gg any second" and they say that for the next 5-10 minutes.
It looks really funny whenever the guy winning ends up choking and throwing away the "won game"

If I cna do ancients with tidehunter at lvl 3 kraken shell, can I do jungle at lvl 1?
Shouldn't I max Kraken Shell first so I can do ancients faster?
|
Well you won't have both kraken and anchor smash at level 1. So would probably take a whiile..
|
level 1 kraken shell (with 1 level in anchor smash)
|
you can but it's really fucking slow

What I don't like too much about the GD Studio commentating (but this holds up for most casts, but play by play with the occasional analysis not as much) is how their cast always circumvene around the same points the made - like they talk about an item decision and pinpoint everything that went right/wrong to this item, disregarding many other aspects. Somehow the casts always get so one-dimensional and often times it feels like someone has to be right/wrong - which I really don't understand..
So what really lacks, is as hfglgg said earlier a play by play caster that goes more by the game, not by the commentary. To sum up, I often feel like the game commentary is more like a postgame commentary.

no commentary is worse than LD and GoDs nowadays. hoping for toby + draskyl in the grand finals of the intertional 4.

Whenever I listen to GD studio im left wondering if something of value is being said because most of the time the answer is no. You have the bald guy making an assertion but never backing it up, Draskyl is talking about his pub games (he has gotten better at this), and Lumi is just keeps going off topic. They have a nice studio, world class teams, and every resource they could ask for and thats what they come up with. The sad thing is though, I think this is all they are capable of and I think Valve agrees. If I wanted someone new to get hyped about dota. GD studio, with their inside jokes and twitch meme pandering, is not what I would want to broadcast on the main stage.

Read the last page. Draskyl is not coming to TI4.

I doubt he gets invited next year tbh. Its not a good idea to give the developer of the game that you base your living off an ultimatum. In what world is that a good idea. He can be replaced so its not a big deal.

I just think it looks narrow-minded to decline something over money (why even mention that publicly - if he did) in the face of one of the most press-covered events in eSports (off-hand speaking).
Plus, it's an event to celebrate eSports and Dota 2; to decline it over money is just something against the current of this subculture.

My understanding was that it's because he was only offered to cast the group stage, and not the main event. Nothing to do with money.
Personally I think he's one of the better casters at the moment but doesn't mesh well

Didnt tobi do something similar in 2012 and valve took the grandfinals from him? Point being, Tobi was the face of dota at that time and valve was not afraid to bench him.
