Bat can also exploit this with Blademail in regular games against these heroes. On April 04 2014 07:16 Jukei wrote: liquid fire is basically a nuke though 150 damage at 400 range on rank 4 is pretty underwhelming compared to the first-pickable nukes in AD.

The special thing about the spells I listed is that they are DoTs that tick every 0.1s for extremely small damage values, and as such are not supposed to trigger Napalm because they fall below the damage threshold. But Valve was lazy and hardcoded exceptions rather than the damage trigger, so you get 25 damage Napalm stacks activating off instances of damage that do 9 damage a tick.

Because this was done without Ability Draft in mind, it means that Napalm damage applies on every tick of these spells, which tick 10 times a second, resulting in obscene amounts of damage. Bat can also exploit this with Blademail in regular games against these heroes. 150 damage at 400 range on rank 4 is pretty underwhelming compared to the first-pickable nukes in AD. 150 dmg at rank 4 with 0 mana cost on a 5 secs cd, small aoe, 50(!)% attack speed reduction, works on towers with half damage but full atk-speed reduction. I wouldn't compare it to an orb. It's a lane-winning spell that works great if you want to build a nuker/pusher build on a mana starved melee. Obviously should go mid preferably. I think you underestimate it.

Liquid Fire would be good in Ability Draft if Ability Draft played like a regular game of DotA, but the nature of Ability Draft lets you get bullshit skillsets that force the game to play nothing like a normal game of DotA, which makes the skill awkward.

My first point though was that it may be jakiro's best spell, on a hero that can't really use it to it's full potential. (except by going offlane like a boss, which really jakiro isn't meant to do.)

I think you are severely overestimating how good AD heroes turn out to be. It's nothing like the WC3 variants, when heroes were always strong, in Dota 2 you quite often get a shitty pool and/or a shitty model and you turn worse than a regular hero. For every draft were you get a good combo there 5 others were you are stuck in a CM body and average skills. Shukuchi by itself is absurdly OP, you don't even need other skills that go well with it if the pool lacks disables, you win the game by yourself with it, unlike regular Dota. Often you get a pool full of carries or something like that and you there's no way to make a gamebreaking hero. You mentioned 3+ nuke heroes, and that makes me wonder how often you play the Dota 2 variant. It's not something that happens that often at all, the small pool doesn't allow it, sometimes there are not even 3 good nukes that a single player could draft, much less for the rest of the team. Your last skill pick often isn't that good at all for the hero you are trying to make. The fact that Liquid Fire doesn't cost mana is huge. Glaives is far more situational, it's good sometimes, DS is an obvious example, but there's also the cases where you get a shitty body that will go OOM in 10 attacks and won't be able to do much. Liquid fire and a stun or good skill allows you do be a decent lane partner even with a body like Mortred, who won't have the mana for 2 regular skills. You don't have to be a carry with it.
