check the notes for 6.80, big changes across the board, es and brood arnt broken anymore being the biggest probably.
tinker got an aghs upgrade, some other neat stuff too.

+ Show Spoiler +i don't want to take anything away from liquid but if you watch the game navi vs liquid game 1 you see why ember spirit doesn't offer much. Disable him, blow him up again and again and again, even in super lategame.

Ember's bad. You have to build glass cannon to do any relevant damage in teamfights, because flameguard gets popped soon and bolas don't do enough damage and are unreliable. But then you have no survival and die to a single stun/silence. Basically if Ember builds early bkb he's ignored, if he goes bfury/mael/deso he dies.

I always saw it as a potential problem of unfocused damage. Unless you have bfuries + poor enemy positioning Ember is spending a ton of time dealing damage spread evenly across the enemy team only to have SoF on cooldown for 6sec and an Ember that's likely not in melee range of anything (and if he is he's in great danger). So you're not really helping to burst anyone down outside of using your skill combos which is sort of the opposite of how a lot of carries work.
Sure on paper his DPS is high, but if you take a Luna or Gyro who can hammer away at one target and just happen to also wreck the rest of the enemy team at the same time it's not really comparable.
Or to put it another way Ember seems great at dealing DPS, but he's terrible at preventing damage from being done to your team. That's something other carries generally excel at by virtue of annihilating an enemy heroe before they deal too much damage. Maybe he makes up for it in ganking potential and mobility, maybe not. Either way when you consider stuff like positioning and the time it takes for SoF to go through it seems like Ember is losing a lot more DPS on a specific target to hit multiple targets than you get with other multi-hit heroes (dusa, gyro, luna, kunkka). Especially since SoF doesn't benefit from attack speed increases (via agility or otherwise).

You're right on the early BKB but wrong on everything else.
